New York Supreme Court reinstates all employees fired for being unvaccinated, orders backpay

New York Supreme Court reinstates all employees fired for being unvaccinated, orders backpay. About time we got some uncucked judges who have brains.

The court found that “being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19.” New York City Mayor Eric Adams claimed earlier this year that his administration would not rehire employees who had been fired over their vaccination status.

NYC alone fired roughly 1,400 employees for being unvaccinated earlier this year after the city adopted a vaccine mandate under former Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Many of those fired were police officers and firefighters.

Not stopping with guns: New York now enforcing whipped cream control

Whipped Cream Cannisters

Not stopping with guns: New York now enforcing whipped cream control. When whipped cream is outlawed, only outlaws will have whipped cream.

The chargers that propel whipped cream through a canister nozzle are filled with nitrous oxide gas, which can be inhaled to produce a high. The inhalant has long been a popular recreational drug – called “whippets” – among teenagers due to the availability of whipped cream canisters at grocery and convenience stores.

Because of this, the state prohibited the sale of whipped cream chargers to those under the age of 21 last November. The chargers themselves can be purchased for use in refillable whipped cream dispensers, but most people likely will notice enforcement of the law when they buy whipped cream packaged in a canister.

65 percent of New Yorkers want tougher bail laws

65 percent of New Yorkers want tougher bail laws. Well, this is indeed shocking. We can’t imagine why they don’t want repeat offenders being released on no bail 100 times.

New York State voters want to see the controversial bail law tightened amid concerns about a surge in violent crime, a new poll released Tuesday reveals.

The vast majority of those polled, or 91 percent, said crime was a very serious or somewhat serious problem, according to the Siena College survey.

Of that number, 60 percent said crime is a “very serious” problem while another 31 percent said it’s a “somewhat serious” problem.

The worries about crime cut across all regions and racial groups.

Two-thirds of Blacks and Hispanics and 53 percent of whites also said they were very or at least somewhat worried about being the victim of a crime.

NYC crook with 44 prior arrests – including 16 in ONE DAY – is finally caught and charged with battering and robbing Thai model, 23, on Manhattan subway platform last November. This guy is a one-man crime wave. Whoever keeps releasing him and criminals like him should be in jail.

New York City man who has been arrested 44 times, including 16 times in a single day, has been charged with brutally attacking an aspiring model on a deserted Manhattan subway platform.

Kevin Douglas, 40, of Queens, was arrested on Thursday after police connected him to the attack of Bew Jirajariyawetch, 23, who was waiting for a subway train in Midtown on November 22 when Douglas allegedly beat and robbed her.

Slammed NYC Movers Turning Away Business As Residents Flee City. Give Governor Andrew Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio credit where credit is due. The American Moving and Storage Association should give them both “Salesman of the Year Awards.”

We hear they both increase gun sales too.

According to FlatRate Moving, the number of moves it has done has increased more than 46 percent between March 15 and August 15, compared with the same period last year. The number of those moving outside of New York City is up 50 percent — including a nearly 232 percent increase to Dutchess County and 116 percent increase to Ulster County in the Hudson Valley. -DNYUZ

Matt Jahn, owner of Brooklyn-based Metropolis Moving, told DNYUZ that he’s been flooded with so many customers that he’s had to reject new business. “We are turning people away because we just don’t have the capacity,” he said, adding “Normally, in a given summer, we spend a bunch on advertising. But we cut it this year because we couldn’t afford it. And we have still had amazing demand.”

  • Sources told The City she also has at least another six staff who do not feature on the official roster, taking her workforce to 14 with a $2 million price tag
  • One staffer is a videographer with a salary of $70,000 who was tasked with filming McCray baking ginger snaps for a social media video during lockdown
  • Another is $150,000-a-year senior adviser Dabash Negash who was recruited in April – one week after de Blasio announced a hiring freeze

Under Progressive Policing, Transit Crime Surges in NYC, SF. We don’t get bail, we don’t go to jail, we’re freed on cue, to terrorize you.

Crime is spiking in public transit systems on opposite sides of the country, as both New York City and San Francisco struggle with a surge in harassment, assault, and even major violence.

Violent crime on San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system rose by 115 percent between 2014 and 2018, culminating in three homicides within a week. New York City’s subway system, meanwhile, has seen a 10 percent increase in total crime in the last year.

ANOTHER FIREARMS BUSINESS LEAVES NEW YORK

ANOTHER FIREARMS BUSINESS LEAVES NEW YORK.  Democrat run New York, like California keep scaring off businesses. Who will win the race to the bottom?

Georgia’s new Governor, Brian Kemp, may want to send New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo a thank you note and a bushel basket of peaches.

That’s because another New York-based, firearms-related business has made the decision to expand its operations not in the Empire State with its highly restrictive gun control laws, but in this case in Georgia with its far friendlier business and political climate.

Check-Mate Industries, based in West Babylon, N.Y., makes handgun and rifle magazines, among other firearms-related equipment as well as life-saving devices for the medical industry. The company is an original equipment manufacturer for firearms makers and the U.S. military.

New York becomes Mexico: Everyone under 30 crossing the border to other states

Just as young Mexicans flee Mexico looking for jobs and better lives, young New Yorkers are fleeing the Empire State in search of the same things.

Just as young Mexicans flee Mexico looking for jobs and better lives, young New Yorkers are fleeing the Empire State in search of the same things. The only real difference is that Janet Napolitano doesn’t greet the New Yorkers with milk and cookies when they cross the border.

Red states are now taking her tired, her poor, her huddled masses, yearning to breathe free.

The New York Daily News reports the emigration information:

A new Marist College poll shows that 36% of New Yorkers under the age of 30 are planning to leave New York within the next five years — and more than a quarter of all adults are planning to bolt the Empire State.

The New York City suburbs, with their high property values and taxes, are leading the exodus, the poll found.

Of those preparing to leave, 62% cite economic reasons like cost of living, taxes — and a lack of jobs.

“A lot of people are questioning the affordability of the state,” said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.

Cost of living. Taxes. Lack of jobs. Sound like lyrics from a song called The Blue State Blues. Look for it on new albums from Sheryl Crow, the Dixie Chicks and Barbra Streisand.

NY police arrest man for being a smart aleck

If being a smart aleck is now an offense worthy of arrest, most IHTM readers would end up in hot water within five minutes. So we just recommend that you save yourself some trouble and stay the hell away from New York.

Here’s the story:

After New York’s finest stopped a bicyclist for riding on the sidewalk, a passing pedestrian started began teasing the cyclist with clever bon mots like, “You know that’s against the law!”

The police start hassling the pedestrian and demand his identification. This, of course, escalates what had been a relatively minor stop into a major confrontation. By the time it was over six officers were involved.

The best part? While arresting the smartass, none of the cops even notice another pedestrian – obviously drunk or loaded – stumbling into oncoming traffic.

Investigation Nation: Schumer demands to know why there aren’t more Democrats in NYC

New York Senator Chuck Schumer is this close to having a tizzy fit. This close. The Democrat is irate that New York City’s population barely budged in the last ten years.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer is this close to having a tizzy fit. This close. The Democrat is irate that New York City’s population barely budged in the last ten years.

The New York Daily News has the details:

chuck-schumer
The perfect juxtaposition of publicity-seeking senator and unfortunately-positioned background sign

Sen. Chuck Schumer called on the federal government Saturday to probe the 2010 U.S. Census’ finding that New York City had grown by a mere trickle.

“These numbers cry out for investigation,” Schumer said, adding his voice to a chorus of critics, including Mayor Bloomberg, who have railed against the decennial count.

“I’m going to put a lot of pressure on them to do it,” he said. “For the census director to just shrug his shoulders … isn’t good enough.”

The U.S. Census reported that the city grew by 166,855 over a decade to 8.175 million despite a Census estimate last year that reported the city was home to 8.3million people.

Schumer called for the investigation in a letter to U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves.

Oh, yeah, this should be a fascinating investigation as Schumer delves into whether a Democrat President and a Democrat House of Representatives and a Democrat Senate and a Democrat Census Director all conspired to shortchange a Democrat stronghold.

We would propose that there’s a perfectly logical explanation as to why New York City fell short of earlier census estimates: If you had a Congressmen like Anthony Weiner and Charlie Rangel and a senator like Chuck Schumer, wouldn’t you consider moving somewhere else, too.

The new math: New York City schools get one teacher for the price of two

The Department of Education pays about 1,500 teachers for time they spend on union activities — and pays other teachers to replace them in the classroom.

To paraphrase Rod Serling, “You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the Teachers’ Union Zone!”

angry-teacher
Take an apple to the union thug

The New York Post says things just don’t add up:

The Department of Education pays about 1,500 teachers for time they spend on union activities — and pays other teachers to replace them in the classroom.

It’s a sweetheart deal that costs taxpayers an extra $9 million a year to pay fill-ins for instructors who are sprung — at full pay — to carry out responsibilities for the United Federation of Teachers.

With Mayor Bloomberg calling for thousands of teacher layoffs to balance the 2012 budget, critics say it’s time to halt the extravagant benefit.

Why the hell does the Department of Education pay for union reps to do union business? Isn’t that an expense any reasonable person would say should be paid by the union?

Oh, wait. That’s the answer. The words reasonable and union should never be used in the same sentence.

Black and Puerto Rican Association lawmakers chant “Tax the rich” during Cuomo speech

You know everything you need to know – absolutely everything – about the current state of New York politics when you learn that liberal Governor Andrew Cuomo is now considered an conservative extremist.

You know everything you need to know – absolutely everything – about the current state of New York politics when you learn that liberal Governor Andrew Cuomo is now considered an conservative extremist.

charles-barron
We suppose that Charles Barron's "Tax the rich" chant is an improvement over the 1960s chant of "Eat the rich."

The New York Daily News has the slant on the chant:

Gov. Cuomo’s speech on Sunday night to the Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators was interrupted with chants of “Tax the rich!” led by City Councilman Charles Barron.

Cuomo received a warm welcome as he began to address the group, but within moments Barron (D-Brooklyn) did a Kanye West and stole the spotlight.

“Shame on you,” Barron yelled at Cuomo after walking from the back of the Albany Convention Center to the front.

“Stop the cuts,” Barron said.

“How are you tonight, Charles?” Cuomo said to Barron after the interruption. “I can’t see who it is, but I know who it is.”

Barron, a known rabble-rouser, seized the moment, yelling, “Tax the rich!”

Soon the chant caught on with a small but vocal group in the crowd of more than 500.

Cuomo’s budget calls for deep cuts to education and health care spending to close the state’s $10 billion deficit. He also opposes extension of the state’s so-called millionaire’s tax, which expires at the end of the year.

Why, next thing you know they’ll have signs comparing Cuomo to Hitler. You know, the little moustaches, the hair down across the forehead, the little swastikas.

Give it a week or so. We’ll be the first to say, “We told you so.”

New York cigarette tax leads to reduced consumption which leads to tax shortfall which leads to dumbfounded officials

The economic geniuses in New York raised cigarette taxes by 58%, which increased the price of pack of smokes in New York city to a remarkable $11.60. As you might expect, cigarette sales plunged by 27%.

When will they learn? The economic geniuses in New York raised cigarette taxes by 58%, which increased the price of pack of smokes in New York city to a remarkable $11.60.

cigarette-tax-new-york
There's only one solution, New York: Lower the legal smoking age

As you might expect, cigarette sales plunged by 27%. As you also might expect, cigarette sales are up by more than 40% in neighboring states and Indian reservations.

The NY Post reports the “duh” details:

Sales of taxed cigarettes have plummeted a staggering 27 percent statewide since the highest cigarette tax in the nation took hold in July, a Post analysis has found…

“That’s what we warned would happen, and obviously it has come to fruition,” said James Calvin, of the New York Association of Convenience Stores.

“Every tax increase drives more smokers to that dark, shadowy, unregulated, unlicensed, untaxed side of the street. The whole policy is self-defeating.”

If the trend continues, the state could fall far short of the $260 million windfall Paterson expected from the 58 percent tax hike.

How do you solve the shortfall? Liberals would tell you the only solution is to raise taxes.

President Obama might want to think about rethinking his whole terrorist trial concept

Here’s why terrorists – including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – need to be tried by military tribunals instead of civilian courts.

Here’s why terrorists – including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – need to be tried by military tribunals instead of civilian courts.

U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour spoke at a recent meeting of the Open Society Institute that was hosted by George Soros. (That sentence alone should tell you that trouble is coming.) Coughenour makes it clear that people with his philosophy are the reason civilian trials won’t work.

Coughenour: Another set of rules – consistent with our Constitution? It’s kind of hard for me to conceive what those rules would be. If people had problems with the way they gathered evidence…if they gathered evidence through harsh interrogation techniques…you know it may be that there will be some people that can’t be convicted because of the way we conducted ourselves. So be it. The world isn’t at a loss for dangerous people, and the fact that we are unable to convict one or more of these folks, it’s part of the price we pay for being the country we are. And we either live up to our responsibilities as being a leader in human rights, and commitment to our Constitution, or we shouldn’t profess to be what we say we are.

Nice work, Attorney General Holder. Really nice work.
