Northwestern hands out journalism diplomas with misspelled word. Who cares? They’re journalism graduates so they’ll never notice.

  • I doubt the professors that signed these diplomas are too worried, nobody can tell who they are because they no longer teach cursive writing.

  • Just remember these people are WAAAAAAAAY smarter than you are, just ask them.

60 years ago, these "journalist/professors" would be cleaning toilets.

  • This applies:

In 100 years we have gone from teaching Latin and Greek in high school to teaching Remedial English in college.
    -Joseph Sobran

Quote works over at the Common Core thread too.

  • Undergraduate education has morphed into the curriculum content of a good high school education circa 1950 and the grade inflation of grad school.

I wonder what percentage of the graduates from the journalism school were magna cum laude?

Congrats on the degree in journalism, good luck getting that job at the newspaper....

This may be that grads first big news story, and the only one of their career..

I was talking to a friend today who said his son who graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering a few years ago is making 180K a year because of the shale gas boom. That might be more than the combined income of the journalism class from Northwestern this year...

  • The University says it's going to make up new ones, spelled correctly. I certainly wouldn't give back the incorrectly spelled one, though. That I keep forever.

  • Nothing to worry about. The local McDonalds manager won't pick that up during the job interview.

    • They're just trying to cover for Moochelle Obama and her poorly written senior thesis.
