NTSB investigators claim official story about TWA Flight 800 is a lie

NTSB investigators claim official story about TWA Flight 800 is a lie. To anyone who has followed the Flight 800 story over the years this is not a surprise. 270 eyewitnesses saw a missile ascend and strike the plane but Bill Clinton didn’t want a successful terrorist attack ruining his re-election chances, so the investigation was taken from the National Transportation Safety Board and handed to the politically-controlled FBI… by none other than Jamie Gorelick.

  • Sounds like their was somebody on that plane that Slick Willy wanted 'Disappeared".

    • "Holy shit!" is right. In Michigan it's illegal to be in a tree stand with a gun so I'm assuming he was armed with a bow. Maybe that's why he didn't bother trying to shoot the bear.

Anyway, for anyone who ever considers fleeing from a black bear by climbing a tree... you might as well flee a shark by jumping in the water.

      • Hey JP, your new comment just popped up so I bopped over to read it then scrolled down to check the rest. The hell does that get a t-downer? It's a great feel good story, and closed Hannity's show the next night!

Not so much a "hurt my feelings" thing as it is a wtf moment, trying to figure out what hacked somebody off so I can do it more often. Only thing I can think of is the song reference.

        • As Kimmy keeps pointing out, somebody unknown visits IHTM to give thumbs down, somehow getting a thrill out it. Doesn't bother me at all when it happens to me.

Imagine how empty their life must be.

By the way, my son-in-law pointed out to me (after I mentioned your bear video) that Michigan law changed while I was living in Nevada -- it is now legal to have a gun in a tree stand. So maybe the guy did have a gun.

  • OK so this is on Fox now. I'm beginning to think this is a great way to take our eyes off the bulls-eye. What NSA, IRS, Immigration Bill problems?

  • I've known this story was bogus for a long time. Some of the pieces that they have tacked up on the re-built model are in the wrong place! That was what first caught my eye during the investigation. Remember the FBI honcho who came on the air and immediately told us we would get the people responsible for doing this? I don't remember his name, but he was replaced the next day. That and the numerous reports from eyewitnesses who saw the missile leave the ground and hit the jet sealed it for me.
As a result, the airlines and Boeing have spent a ton of money to retrofit the center fuel tanks so that this won't happen again. Whenever I work on a fuel tank system, I have to jump through hoops making a simple job a lot more complicated than it really is. Our new 737s are fitted with a nitrogen generation system that fills the center tank with nitrogen as the fuel is used. theory being that removal of air from the fuel tank and flushing it with nitrogen will prevent another explosion. Remember 5th grade science? Air is mostly composed of what?
Who drives us to make all the changes? The FAA of course. A group of people that couldn't find a hole in the side of an airplane if their hand went through it while trying to lean on it. If you think the TSA is loaded with stupid people, you should try having a discussion about aviation with a member of the FAA. I've tried on numerous occasions during my 30 year career and have left walking away shaking my head in disgust every time, every single time. They can show you in the regulations how and why they can levy a fine. How the airplane gets from point A to point B is still a mystery to them. How the airplanes make that loud zoom zoom sound is pure unexplainable magic to them. I know this because I've tried to explain these subjects to several Feds on different occasions. My cat has a better grasp on the theory of flight than your above average FAA inspector.

    • Here's a question for you, since you seem to have experience in this area: have you ever heard of another airliner crash where the FBI took over the investigation from the NTSB?

      • Actually, I have. AA FLT/11 and FLT/77. UA FLT/ 93 and FLT/175.

Kind of obscure incidents, but a google search should provide a hit or two.

        • And what was the reason given? I can't see how the FBI could possibly manage it better than the NTSB.

          • They parked two of those flights in the World Trade Center and one landed at the Pentagon... that was a little out of the NTSB's area of expertise.

          • Okay, so they knew they were terrorism related and figured send in the criminal investigators. But with TWA 800 they send in the FBI to say it was a fuel tank. It smells to high heaven. And with Jamie Gorelick involved...

          • Quick Quiz JP, how much did she end up raking in from her payoff from the Clintons oops, I mean her "job" at Fannie Mae? Don't have to look it up, guess.

          • It's in the column I linked in the original post: $26 million. For six years "work" at Fannie Mae. Not bad, eh? Now we know the going price for a soul.

          • Knew I read it somewhere. Sometimes I start forgetting where I saw something and start rerunning myself on the same site.

          • ... in both TWA 800 and the Oklahoma City "investigation" for the Clinton DOJ...

I'm not a conspiracy nut but these people are starting to give me the willies. (no pun)

          • People tease.me a bout being something of a conspiracy nut, but I grew up in a militart family. No, I don't trust the government as far as i could throw it or an inch, whichever is the lesser distance! An d stuff like this and Oklahoma are why.

  • If this had been terrorists, wouldn't THEY have been the ones telling us about it?

From what I see, there's as much evidence that it was aliens. Or gremlins.

    • "From what I see, there’s as much evidence that it was aliens. Or gremlins."

Because 270 eyewitnesses who saw something resembling a missile isn't enough to be conclusive?

      • How many of those people had previously seen a missile in flight and would know what one looked like? I've seen them in movies, but I've no idea what a real one would look like. Could an AA missile even be seen by the naked eye? Considering their relatively small size and the fact that they must intercept supersonic aircraft, I'm guessing it would be quite difficult.

        • You need to read this: http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/06/cnn_edits_out_comparison_of_twa_800_and_benghazi.html

Turns out the CIA manufactured second FBI interviews of witnesses so they could pretend the eyewitnesses changed their stories. Forget about every other doubt you have: why would the CIA lie about second FBI interviews unless they were involved in a coverup? For that matter, why would the CIA be involved in investigating a place crash in Long Island at all?

        • *sigh* I'm not trying to be quarrelsome, I'm just hesitant about ANY "conspiracy theory" and this is the kind of thing I mean. You're talking about a trail of smoke, these other reports I keep seeing referred to talk about a streak of light. Which is it, or is it both? Do modern AA missiles leave a trail like that even? Think how big it would have to be in order to be visible from the ground, and big enough to attract that kind of attention. I would think modern ordnance would be a bit more "stealthy." How many of those 270 reports are verifiably contemporaneous, and how many trickled in after the first handful? I'm sure you've heard stories about deliberate flying saucer hoaxes, where a couple guys call in to the local radio station with a completely bogus story, and within hours dozens of callers are reporting having seen the same thing, and OMG IT'S OVER MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW! And 270 people? Let's think about that number, too: even in the NYC area, that's a helluva lot of people to be looking precisely at one airliner at exactly the right moment to see something so fast. What makes more sense? Something had ALREADY happened -- like, say, some kind of small explosion -- to draw that much attention, even if it wasn't readily evident, you know, a "WTF was that?" moment. THEN you get the first small boom, and fuel goes spraying -- into the slipstream of course -- where it ignites in the exhaust -- and the flame burns back up the fuel spray to the source -- all in an instant -- looking for all the world like a bright light shooting =toward= the airplane. . .

I mean, I'll certainly wait and see what this bunch has to say and what kind of credibility they have -- but I'm sure you know that you can find ex-NASA employees too who say we never really went to the Moon.

          • I see where you're coming from, but on your side you have to explain why it was a missile for the first day under the NTSB and then the Clinton administration put the FBI in charge and it was immediately not a missile. (Well, after they relieved the first agent in charge anyway.)

I've been trying to imagine how many people would likely watch a takeoff in one of the busiest metropolitan areas of the world. 270 doesn't seem that large a number, especially if a missile is fired to draw their attention. Driving your car, you might not pay more than half attention to a takeoff until something odd happened, like a missile intercept. Then you'd watch like a hawk. Anyway, I suspect that professional investigators know how to cull the credulous imitator witnesses. They should.

        • You can see a Stinger missile. Especially at night. That particular shoulder fired weapon is more than enough to bring down a jet liner.

        • Unless the AA missile is propelled by a magic carpet, you are going to see its exhaust. Which is what everybody described: something that looked like a 4th of July bottle rocket coming up from the ground and intercepting the plane. Salinger says it was the U.S. Navy, I'm guessing it was al Queda because the CIA recently allowed them to get a bunch of shoulder-fired missiles and they were making noise about shooting down a plane in NY.

  • If this could really be proven it would be another nail in Hillary's coffin to stop her running for president. I bet the Republicans will sleep right through it when they should he grabbing on to this like a pit bull with a steak.

  • I want n0bamadontcare dismantled...I want the IRS shut down before 1-1-14...I want those involved in the IRS scandal arrested and prosecuted...I want Lois Learner removed from the Federal Payroll...I already know that up until n0bama took the Oath of Office in January 2008 that Slick Willy Clinton was the ultimate biggest liar that ever darkened the halls of the White House in US History. This story means little to me.

    • As important as all those issues are for America, they pale in comparison to the 1,500-year-old war against Islam which is hidden from us for mysterious reasons. If we can make it clear to Americans that both Oklahoma City and TWA Flight 800 were predecessors to the 9/11 attack, maybe people will finally understand who the enemy is.

      • That will never happen. Muslims will not be blamed. Too much is at stake. At best, it will be attributed to "unknown" forces.

I am so sick of our government lying to us. How DARE they? And why do we, as a society, allow them to?

        • In part, I think, because the government is not interested in confronting Islam. No will to do so. Pretending things are fine is much easier especially when that same government is interested only in its pet projects like global warming, nuclear disarmament, amnesty, and social engineering of the military. How can you have an existential threat with all those other issues?

  • This one has always been hinky to me. I've seen every documentary and heard every debunking from every "reasonable" expert... And I never did buy the official explanation.

  • The late Pierre Salinger, JFK's press secretary, claimed the official story was also a cover-up although he said a US Navy missile was responsible. I always had my doubts about the official story back then because of all the witnesses who said they had seen a streak of light. The FBI and CIA pretty much put it out of the public eye with the animation and "trust us, we know what we're doing" PR campaign. If this issue now catches fire again, if you thought trust in gubbermint was declining due to the Obama scandals, just wait....
