NYC Mayor Bloomberg tells UN: “Government’s Highest Duty” Is to Push “Healthy” Foods. Bloomberg is taking the term “nanny state” to new depths as mom was the last one to take this much interest in our eating habits. This man belongs in an insane asymlum – one that serves a healthy diet, naturally.

Ah.... no. The highest duty of government is to make sure the roads, infrastructures and borders are secure, working appropriately and so on. The most highest in my opinion is protection from enemies and terrorism. Pushing healthy foods is no where near that. Moron.

Surely no one actually listens to this guy. His intellectual arrogance is appalling and he obviously sees hiimself as a citizen of the world (an important one), not an American. Citizenry isn't smart enough to make choices so his view should forced upon us. Sounds more like Hugo Chavez.
Ever notice how words like "freedom" & "liberty" are seldom uttered by the likes of this guy & the rest of the Dem's? ( I know he's supposed to be an Independent and was a former RINO).
So when is this guy's term up? It's time for him & Obummer to go away to that tropical island where they can wrestle the caps off a few Corona's and have a seaweed burger or two.

"Highest duty"? Above even preserve protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies etc., seeing to an honest court system so that justice may prevail, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity?
Oh I'm sure it falls in there somewhere. After all, the Fed got interested in nutrition back in the '30s, when draft boards reported they were 4-f ing about half the candidates because of nutrition-related illness and disability; good nutrition quite literally became an issue of national security. To think we were in danger from hordes who ate nothing but raw fish and rice, or sausage and sauerkraut! So sure, I do believe that the dissemination of information regarding healthy eating and other practices is a legitimate and fully-warranted function of government. But - somewhere between declaring "National Pancake Week" and cleaning up rest areas on the Interstate.
