HAHAHA...I know I'm going to piss a few of you guys off but oh well, I've been pissing people off for a lot of years now so here goes.
I don't play golf. As far as I am concerned golf courses are a huge waste of prime land and water, something all of us living in arid parts of the country think about. That land and water would be better used to grow food for the many instead of being used by the few for entertainment.
Ok, rant about golf is over. When it comes to private schools the Obummer can kiss my old, wrinkled, white ass. I help pay the cost so my grandchildren, all three of them, can go to private schools. My sons, my family, want their kids to get a good education and pubic skrewels do not provide it anymore. The kids are doing great and, according to news reports from my sons, they are far above the grade average for kids their age in public schools. That is what we want for our children, isn't it? A chance at a better life than we had? A good home life and a good education is one way to accomplish that.
I'm with ya whiskey. I worked lawn maintenance at a golf course, which, not indecently, happened to make the news just a few days ago for cancelling a speaking event.
I could never understand choosing a stick, hitting a ball, chasing the ball, choosing a stick, hitting the ball......repeat as necessary.
If I am going to hit a ball with a stick, someone ELSE is going to chase the damn thing.
Plus, seeing how upset some people got about the whole thing, and THEN having them explain they did it because it is RELAXING....well, my idea of relaxing does not include high blood pressure .
Thats why I played baseball in High school, you hit it, someone else gets it and brings it back..I didn't do to good at football, I always got the ball, and large farm kids would knock me down and I was at the bottom of the pile....Golf was another non-sport to me, you hit the ball and then go get it..Kinda like playing fetch with a dead dog..You throw the ball and he just lays there...

I read recently where some college professor said that reading to your kids before they're old enough to go to school was giving them an unfair advantage, and parents that do that should feel bad about it. By her standards, YOU should feel TERRIBLE!
And that is why kids are graduating high school with less smarts than the had at age 5. MOST education ofchildren is the responsibikty of the family. The schoolshould simply be reinforcing,filling in some blanks.
Tell that professor to piss up a rope, I was reading before I went to Kindergarten, and my parents didn't push me to learn how. I just loved the story books so much that I wanted to read them myself.
My sister taught me the alphabet before kindergarten and I took it from there. I started reading and then started writing stories. So when they finally started teaching kids to read in 1st grade, I was bored to tears. That's when I started staring out the window, a habit which I carried forward into my working career as an adult.
I was surprised, upon showing up at kindergarten, that everyone else COULDN'T read. It seemed like the most natural thing in the world to me. And no, professor, I'm NOT going to feel bad about it.
Same here. I remember my mother reading to me often. I remember being in first grade being irritated when it took someone 5 minutes to read one paragraph from Dick and Jane.
I'll add that poor reading really does't surprise me anymore with many families having the husband and wife working or single moms/dads. Many really just don't have the time or the energy to put into teaching their kids basic skills before they start school.
You guys went to kindergarten? There was no such thing where I grew up, I started in the 1st grade and went on from there. Mom taught us our letters and that 2+2 equaled 4, but that was about it.
Maybe we had better teachers back then. I ended up being a civil engineer, two brothers are big shots in the tech industry, one has his own auto repair shop with 8 employees, the last retired from an electric co-op and now builds custom furniture.
Y'all think it may be that we had loving parents, who kicked our ass and taught us that hard work eventually led to a good income? I like to think so.

The indoctrination didn't take on my sons. They're both quasi California rednecks. My eldest figured it out in 9th grade when he started telling me he was going for his daily dose of propaganda.
My youngest got really PO'ed at his uber libtard English teacher in 10th grade and wrote an essay on what a nice guy Hitler was just to piss her off. I got a phone call about that one, the teacher didn't like the response much.

In another time, and another place, maybe a different lifetime, when I worked as an Operating Engineer, I signed up for a forty hour certification class in HazMat handling.
I had to travel two hours each way for the class, which was given on five consecutive Saturdays, eight hours each.
I sat in the front row, books and supplies at the ready, planning on learning something. But alas, the instructor had gotten his position because his dad was a high up muckity-muck in the union, and he couldn't work as an operator any more because of an injury. His idea of teaching the class was to stand at the front of the classroom and read out of the textbook. That's bad enough, but it got worse. He couldn't read.
There I sat, book open, trying to read with him. It was so frustrating, I started saying out loud the words he couldn't sound out. At first, he seemed thankful, then after about twenty times, he started getting irritated.
At the first break, I gathered my books and went home. I called the program coordinator on Monday to ask that I be rescheduled into a class taught by someone else. I don't think I could have dealt with forty hours of that. And I CERTAINLY wasn't going to learn anything.
HAHAHA...Do you remember those MSHA classes we had to take every year? The last one I went to, about 4 years ago, was the same as when I had to go the first time almost 40 years ago. Same old bs, same old 1950's movies, nothing has really changed except the pay the gooberment clowns get for boring everyone to death.
I tried golf once, it involved a couple of my wife's uncles and a lot of alcohol and did not end well, it ended when a little old lady playing ahead of us got hit by one of my drives and she chased us off the course into the bar....Never been back since....

In order to not sound like a complete and utter asshole, before you attack any private schools and clubs, you must first STOP sending your children to private school and immediately enroll them in public schools in D.C.
Then you must go play golf at ONLY public courses where you will meet the great unwashed.
Next you must fly on commercial airlines and pay for your flights.
Otherwise you are nothing more than a hypocritical asshole of the highest order. And you need to STFU!
