UUUhhhhh This wasn't a victory for the Democrats. Both sides of the aisle just figured they better approve something soon or their jobs would be forfeit. I agree that a 2 month extension was absurd. A more long term solution should have been established so we aren't doing this very same thing in February!

This not much of a victory, & at best it's a hollow one. This payroll tax is what funds Social Security, & everyone who works legally pays it. The idea of cutting this tax is to give people who don't make enough to really pay taxes at the end of the year a cut. So we are undercutting a program that is already broke. Plus, when you consider it's a pyramid scheme to begin with, & then you take the funding away while still paying out, wow, & Bush was the idiot for wanting to privatize about 3-5% of it?
BTW, in a couple of months...rinse & repeat.
Not nearly enough people are making this point. I saw some of the comments the drones sent to the White House arguing for trading funding of Social Security for a $2.15 per day payroll tax cut. My favorite rationale: "It allows us to have family pizza night."
We really ffkkd this one up. Regardless of the long-term wisdom of this particular instance, cutting a tax is something Republicans should be bragging about, not this sh1theap. Now he's going to have this on his resume too, along with offing Camelhumper One, and he'll probably be taking credit before winter is out for "regime change" in North Korea too. I'm getting REALLY scared that there's a possibility he's gonna get re-elected. And THAT is when it's really going to hit the fan.
