I'm a recovering woodworker. Haven't had this much fun since Eastwood's "chair" performance. Totally BAFFLED!! They could have given him a zillion other things made out of wood. There are more starving wood artisans in this country than benches... and this bench is BUTT UGLY.

There actually is a beautiful - and very expensive - tropical hardwood that IS pink. Can't think of the name of it right this morning. Oh yes I can http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/pink-ivory/ . Redwood would probably look pink in some lighting conditions.
Probably the camera/film. Colors aren't always accurate. Probably some heart redwood, too.
Well I hope it's not pink in real life. I don't know what kind of message it would send to give the Chinese a park bench made from pink wood... but it can't be a good message.
