  • Just came across this one on another site..."The Bath School disaster is the name given to three bombings in Bath Township, Michigan, on May 18, 1927, which killed 38 elementary school children, two teachers, and four other adults; at least 58 people were injured."

        • And that has been true of every school shooter we have had. Obvious signs, but no one paid any attention until it was too late. THen everyone moans and groans that it all must stop, but nothing is done until the next tragedy.

          • Well he didn't kill HER, but he did kill a number of other folks, including a child. And he messed Gabby up for life.

          • There were signs that he was danger before he shot at anyone. The Aurora killer had warning signs as well. The Newton killer as well and even the Columbine killers as well.

          • You know what? It IS profiling. And profiling is done for a reason. THere are commonalities amongst different afflictions and behaviours. Shooters are generally young, white boys/men. There are always exceptions, but its a place to start.

          • It isn't politically correct to point out when a person is disturbed mentally that they could also be dangerous because for some reason that will make his or her self esteem low :-/ That in of itself is insane.

            If a person is disturbed and no matter what the school and the parent does then it is time to place them in the hands of professionals that monitor them 24/7 and through trial and error and testing find teh right combinations of medications AND therapy to deal with their issues away from stressors like family and school and things that are normal for others but OBVIOUSLY not normal for them.

            Why did everyone involve WANT these people to become INVOLVED in society and be sociable and have friends if it s obvious that is NOT THEIR THING? Why? Pushing people to be "normal" is a MAJOR stressor.

            they need to be in a situation or place where that stressor is taken away and their real issues are worked on.

          • It actually wasn't so much the ACLU. It was the disabled community. THe psych patients got lumped in with other disabled folk as far as guaranteeing their civil rights, and to some extent, it was needed desperately. Even if you are crazy you deserve care, food, shelter and appropriate medications, etc. The mentally ill, no matter how minor their problem, were simply warehoused in large institutions, where untrained personal sort of herded them around like cattle. The wern't receiving care and in many cases were not even getting basic food, housing , hygeine, etc. But we sort of threw out the baby with the bath water, since some need long term inpatient care as Kimmy describes, to settle on meds, provide therapy, provide a place where the usual daily stressors are reduced.

  • Didn't Benghazi go this way? Withdraw funding for protection in July and then wonder in September just why the bad guys can walk in? One has to wonder how many windmills or Volts were subsidized with the $1Billion saved by not implementing school security or how about the $80Billion spent on funding the UN IPCC? It would appear that this administrations priorities are somewhat confused.

    • Good question. Perhaps they allocate their funds well enough to make sure there are security placements on site and around campus. ???

      • The school had a security plan and enforced it. THe shooter bypassed the security measures. Our kids already go to school in places that look like prisons. How much more can we "protect" them?

        • This school was a gun free zone. He knew he could get in becuase the security plan was in all truth flimsy. Without an armed guard there to enforece the security plan it created a situation where he could just shoot his way in. The principal and other administrators lunged at him, however, using their bodies as shield unfortunately did not save the children and they lost their lives in the process. We may never know if one of them was armed if things would have been different but I am thinking if anything it would have helped. The coward killed himself when he saw the cops coming, the cops with guns.

          I just learnt that the Aurora killer chose that particular theaters because it was a gun free zone. He had scooped two other theaters (and the media didnt freely report this for some reason) and those two theaters were ignored by him for he feared that he will have to engage someone in gun battle before he committed the crime that he wanted to commit. Even then after choosing a free gun zone theater, he still went with protection. However if he had the protection why not then go into a place where the chances of people having guns was higher? Perhaps not wanting to engage civilians in gun battle while many of them get to escape was not suitable for his murderous mind.

          I am willing to believe that if this school had at least one armed guard IN ADDITION to the security measures (that he was so easily able to by-pass), he woud have not chosen that school or else he would have killed himself or he would have been engaged diminishing his resolve to break through or at the very least slow down his progress making it easier for many of the children and teachers to leave through the back door.

  • What does it mean when funds Lapse? Does that mean that the funding was appropriated but never used? It's bad enough that we are taxed to death to cover crap-sandwich legislation, but when funds for something truly needful, like school security is appropriated but not disbursed, you have to ask WTF?

    I wonder if this came to mind for the POTUS tonight as he spoke to the folks at Newtown?

    You aren't nut. We all have questions on why barry claims everything is for the children yet he continues to cut the very programs that will truly help them become independent productive citizens of this nation.

    I wish to hear the carnival barker Carney explain this one away. It is now up to someone tomorrow to ask the question. Come on boys and girls within the msm do your damn jobs and ask the tough questions and stop kissing ass.
