Two-thirds of veterans (66%) disapprove of the job Pres. Obama is doing, according to a new survey by Concerned Veterans for America (CVA). Likewise, 68% say the country is "on the wrong track."
The people who identify as Democrats and approve of the criminal in chief need to take some time and take a mental dose of Martin Niemöller. They may well be giddy at how conservatism is under assault with the current propaganda campaign seemingly bent on criminalizing it as hate speech but they need to be very mindful of the FACT that if the progressives are willing to prosecute other people and groups based solely on inconvenient politics then they will ultimately also target those who have become brainwashed into believing that their government actually cares about them.
It's a sick waiting game for that inevitable epiphany because once a celebrated cause outlives its political usefulness the people who had been afforded special protections will get discarded. Of course by then those who might have stood up for them will already have been dispensed with -silenced in one way or another.
Russian history from 1905-1945 would be a mandatory class if I owned a school. The fates of the Mensheviks and Kulaks should be enough of a cautionary tale for most would be Marxists.
The problem with that is, any truly dedicated leftist would double down on that. They never seem to learn from their past failures, but instead try to do it over, exponentially larger, which becomes an exponentially larger failure. You could teach valuable lessons to those predisposed to conservatism, but teaching the leftists is an impossible task.
You're right. Unless one has lived it and suffered as a result, it's pretty hard to comprehend the dehumanizing aspects of collectivization. Still if it were taught it wouldn't hurt and it would provide a frame of reference when observing Venezuela or Putin's adventurist policies. Like Islam, progressivism is all about expansion. It is that simple, IMO.

I think many old time Dem voters are unaware of how far to the left the DNC has become. They would be hard pressed to explain the true goals of progressivism.
When I first met my lady, and for a few years after, she was a dyed in the wool Democrat. The more I revealed to her what the present day Democrat Party was up to, the kind of things they believe and advocate for, the more she realized that they don't represent her. It was difficult, dragging her out of there, but she recently admitted to me that she voted for Romney.
