Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.     • uhh, Well umm I know that er I'm a little late, but uhh never ummm late than better, err, well you uh know what I mmmmean.
      I uh missed you err, Kimmy, at my umm last err free weekend or uhhh was that a ummm free month. Anyway I know I haven't been around err much but uhh I been real, real busy. It takes quite umm a bit of errrrr hard work to completely destroy a uhhh country of this mmm size an, an, an, and ma, ma, mag, magnitude. an, an, and subjugate all the err plebes...umm I mean citizens. I've uhhhh hardly been ummm able to sleep for uhhh more than 10 or 12 hrs a night for ummm several days uh now.

      Anyway, err you seem to uh have pity for these parents that I have mmmm co-opted for my uhh propoganda tour, I mean uh, campaign stops......err my party, pity par...paty pity...anyway uhh you underrrrstannnnd what I 'm sayin', my err sweet Queen. These people uhh know exactly why they errr are here. They were America-hating Progressives long uhh before the umm Newtown err incident. These folks are uhh happy to umm gravy-train their dead kids for the uhh cause. An, an, and since getting guns uhhh out of the umm possession of law abiding folks has uhh been one of my umm goals for err years, this past year has been a ummm real boon for uhh my my uhh agen, agen, plan. If you were umm paying attention you would have uhh noticed that err not all of the Newtown parents uhh were mmm on board with the uhh gun ban legislation, but uhh those folks have umm been effectively umm kept of of umm my TV networks, heh, heh, heh.

      Anyway, it seems err that even with the fear umm mongering and constant ummm lying..."fact" presentations that I uhh and my err party affil, affil, uhh friends have been filling uhh the airwaves an, an, and the blogs an, and the newspapers with, we just weren't err able to uhh overcome the ummm, mmm intelligent, Liberty umm loving people...I mean the uhh EVIL NRA.

      Even uhh though we umm, err lost this fight , I promise that I will mmm continue this fight for errr "common sense", anti-gun violence laws that err will empower the elite and the violent ummm criminals.....mmm the hard working welfare recip...honest Democr......
      oh, uhhh hell, anyway.........hewwww, this talking without my teleprompter is errr tiring an, an reeeaaal hard on the uhh, err thoug...think...SHIIIIIT!

  • The left has never been honest about it's real goal when it comes to "gun control". Control is the key word. They do not have the balls to actually propose an amendment to the constitution to overturn the 2nd amendment. Plus, they know they cannot get 67 Senators, 288 House members, & 38 states to go along. So if someone in the GOP leadership had any brains, they would propose just that, to see who really will sign their name as wanting to overturn the 2nd amendment. Even Obama would'nt be dumb enough to support it publically, but Biden might.

  • I saw part of the press confernce today as I was getting ready for work and Obama mentioned 90% of the population supported this. Really? I talked about this to a very good friend of mine who is quite liberal and even she thought it was an empty gesture and wondered where this number came from. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who thinks Obama walks on water most of the time. She did raise a very good point. How about strenghting the laws already in place regarding felons with guns? When low level pot dealers face harsher punishment than a violent reapeat felon caught with a gun, something is very wrong. I would one up that by saying, this shit keeps happening as more and more states abolish the death penalty. Am I the only one who finds this odd?

      • Here's the thing, I used to like math when I was in school, because it wasn't open to interpretation. Either you were right or wrong. Apparently that isn't true anymore. I just don't get where these numbers come from in regards to these polls. No one ever askes me about this stuff. Am I to believe the only people who were against this law the Senators who voted against it and the people who post here?

      • My question is, when somebody who is not qualified under the background check tries to buy a gun, why is it just denied, instead of looked into?

    • You just brought up a serious sticking point with me.
      The people I know who are felons are so because of marijuana charges, no weapons were involved. They both tried to get their records expunged, but no dice! Their charges were over 20 years ago, and they are conservatives now. I would trust them with a gun before I would most any Democrap, but they can't legally own one.
      There should be some kind of law to allow for this kind of person to get their records expunged, and allow them to carry on like the rest of us.

      • But felons can vote! Since they paid for their crimes against society, they can now vote. Why can't felons of victimless crime (like grass) be allowed to own a gun? Or felony theft by check or theft of services? You can get a job easier with a murder rap than a theft or drug rap.

      • I don't remember what the questions on the last background check form I had to fill out since it was 1996 or so, but they had changed the questions from the simple format of the 70s when I first bought guns at shops. Back then all you had to do was check 'NO' 10 times and you wouldn't raise any eyebrows. One of those questions pertained to ever having used illegal drugs, whether you were ever arrested or convicted for it did not matter. If that was checked in the affirmative, you weren't going to make the purchase.

        Over the years the questions were changed so you had to read them because they were not all the same answer. When they added the question about having ever been just charged with domestic abuse without any concern that you might have been exonerated, and that was a purchase halting red flag, things were becoming ridiculous.

        Funny though, around the end of the 90s I became acquainted with a fellow who owned guns and under circumstances I was never made 100% clear on, the police took his guns because of some mental anguish issues or something. He was 'considered a danger to himself or others' or something like that due to something of which I have no knowledge.

        I am unaware of any drug or alcohol issues on his part, although he certainly was a capable drinker! He was a really funny guy, and smart fellow and I got to know him pretty well over the next several years, even working some contract jobs with him as well as many social events. How I even found out about the gun thing was when he came out to my farm with a few of our other mutual buddies for an afternoon of firearms practice. He told me about just recently getting the two pistols he brought along back from the police. I chose not to pry after his initial reluctance to spill his guts on the issue. The word I got later was from my girlfriend, who I met him through in the first place and she didn't know much, either, or wasn't talking.

  • President Obutthead got just what he deserved....Even Law Enforcement (except for a few morons who are political leg riders of their local democraps) decided (and me among them) that this kind of legislation would not do shit to prevent a mass shooting. Add to the fact EVERY one of the last bunch of mass murderers are either liberal or grew up in a liberal household and people saw through that line of bullshit the president and his cronies were trying to sell. The best part is Diane Swinestein has got to be foaming at the mouth right now. She got nothing, not a damn thing, and her idiotic effort to ban guns jumped up and bit her in the ass, even after all the drama queen moments. Perhaps Jay Mohr is going to tweet a big f*cking Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa now that we did not get rid of the second amendment.
