• This was reduced to 10 years in the past, I believe under Bush, in order to save money. So Obama get s two-fer with this one. He gets to balloon the deficit more and self-aggrandize with the personal security perk for life.

• Ah. Lesson One, it always helps to read the stories:

  'According to the press secretary’s office, the law “restores lifetime Secret Service protection of former Presidents who did not serve as President prior to January 1, 1997, and their spouses; and provides for protection of all children of former Presidents until they become 16 years of age.” '

  Operative word, "restored." OK folks, this time there really is nothing to see. Move along, and keep your powder dry.

• I thought that was a given for any ex president.

  • It was changed under Clinton. He sign it into law the an ex president would get ss protection for just 10 years following his/her exit from the White House.

    • So now with the economy a zillion tmes worse, Obama signs it bac to forever? He must be really sweating what will happen to his ass after he is out of office.

        • I went on a gun website looking to see what happened to resale prices.
          Mosin Nagant rifles, which used to be cheap and plentiful, are scarce as hen's teeth, and much more expensive. Same goes for Makarov pistols.

• Typical narcissist. Only he and he alone deserves to have a life time security detail. JPT is right, who is going to get stuck with this crap detail? I'm willing to bet it will be one of those punishment assignments.

• What happens if no Secret Service agents volunteer for his detail? Who in the world will want to spend the rest of their career guarding the Obamas?

• More proof that Orwell was right. Next "Dear Leader" will pass a multimillion dollar vacations on the taxpayer's dime for life as well.

• At first I was like EXCUSE ME? But then I read that it affects Bush (Clinton?) all future Presidents and a Republican put that through Congress... then I was like what the heck? This is wrong, this is tax money this is luxury. I can understand 10 years as ppl could still be sore at you within that time frame, but come on! This isj ust disgusting.

  • Not only that, but once he's done with his term he's going to make millions giving speeches at different places, so let him pay for his own damn security. 10 years seems like a good amount of time. He's worth 5 million now, will at least triple that once he's out, so screw him.

• Just declare the area where Obama is living a gun-free zone. We all know how safe people are in gun-free zones, that's why every school has one.
