Obamacare Ruling May Have Just Killed State-Based Exchanges. There’s really no reason to have them now is there? Especially since they all seem to be bleeding money.

  • This is an email that was sent to me by a government employee...

    The language is very interesting. The bold and italics are mine:

    "Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Federal and state governments,
    insurers, employers, and individuals are given shared responsibility to reform and improve the availability, quality, and affordability of health
    insurance coverage in the United States. The ACA requires most U.S. citizens
    and legal residents to maintain health coverage     that meets a minimum
    standard, called minimum essential coverage. Taxpayers who do not have qualifying health coverage and who do not qualify for an exemption will need to make an individual shared responsibility payment when filing their tax returns. Your Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) coverage meets the minimum essential coverage requirement under the ACA.

    Beginning in January 2016, DFAS is required to furnish a Form 1095-C to each employee for calendar year 2015. Employers use Form 1095-C to report information to the IRS and to employees about individuals who have minimum essential coverage under the employer plan and therefore have met the individual shared responsibility requirement for the months that they are covered under the plan.

    ELECT TO RECEIVE YOUR FORM 1095-C ELECTRONICALLY. MyPay has been updated to allow employees to elect to receive the Form 1095-C electronically alongwith their electronic W-2 statement. Civilian employees are encouraged to log into myPay https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx and from the main menu, select "Turn On/Off Hard Copy of IRS Form 1095." Electronic delivery is the fastest and most secure method to receive your form once it becomes available in January of 2016. To ensure you will receive the form electronically, please opt in to receive an electronic copy of your Form 1095 as soon as possible and no later than Sept. 30, 2015.

    Wow... what's the rush too? It is only July. Now that the decision is truly final I guess they really want to get those taxes in. Fascinating to see a nation go down the sewers isn't?

    • Shared Responsibility payment? Okay That really pissed me off. Is it anyone's responsibility to pay for the health care of another...Hell NO! The government twits are some of the most crooked and underhanded pieces of slim in a human suit to ever crawl across the face of the earth.

  • The republicans have had numerous chances to kill off barrycare, they punted to the courts and guess what there RINOs. You all SCREWED all of us. When you have no back bone and not balls, this is what happens to the people.

  • Not like the tax payers are on the hook or anything. Just the "federal government" picking up the tab. Not like the Fed gets its money from the tax payer or anything.

  • Sounds like 'part of the plan' to me - state exchanges fail, Fed says "Oh, we'll have to take over all of it. And, by the way, we're nationalizing the insurance companies. All hail Galaxar..."

  • The states that set up exchanges don't have to maintain them now with this ruling effectively gutting the ability of the law to extort the implementation of those exchanges since subsidies are no longer tied to them. Of course the states who do not value fiscal responsibility, like Connecticut, will keep their exchanges... but this is not quite the victory that Obama claims as it removes a tool he had to arm-twist policy.

    There are no longer billions of dollars at stake to withhold from states refusing to set up exchanges thanks to this ruling.

  • Question for constitutional scholars and those that understand how our country is supposed to work. We are attacking this on a constitutional level and failing plus we know Btich and Boner won't try to repeal this pig. Is there a way to get this on a ballot and let WE THE PEOPLE vote Obamacare up or down? If so, how would we go about doing this?

      • Actually, there is a way but it is complicated.

        Simply put, people can sign a petition to force the House to recognize a referendum, based whatever it is you want to vote on. It is easier to do state by state but what it amounts to is if enough people sign a petition, a referendum, to ban Obummercare in that state then state officials must put the referendum on the next election ballot or hold a special election. If a majority of people vote yes on the ban then that states elected officials in Washingtoon have no choice but to bring the subject up before the entire House. The trick is to get enough states to do the same thing at the same time.

        On a national level we have almost 150 million registered voters. it would take 10% of those voters, 15 million, to force a referendum. If we could get that many people to sign a petition to bring Obummercare up for a vote the clowns in Washingtoon would have no choice but to hold a special election to let the voters decide. Can you imagine the logistical nightmare it would be to get 15 million signatures together then present it to the House of Representatives?

    • Another thing we need to figure out how to do, is limit Scroters to a ten year term at most. Leaving these people in for life is a mistake that needs correcting. We have a judge that admitted to passing out at a major government function. Anyone that was accountable to the people wouldn't dream of drinking too much before an important event.

        • Oh I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Whether we agree with her politics or not, she is a smart woman. Smart people dread having to listen to stupid people drone on and on. I imagine she thought, "fk this noise, I'm gonna get lit up to help me endure the mindless imagery and lies tonight."
