I wouldn't pay that kind of money for pig brains, pig feet, hog jowl, collared greens, black eyed peas and cornbread. Now catfish, hush-puppies, corn on the cob, fried okra, carameled carrots and green beans...mmm mmm.
You gotta be a southern man! But, what's wrong with hog jowls, blackeyed peas and cornbread? Cook them jowls up with the peas along with a slab or buttered cornbread, you got some good eatin'!
whiskey-don't get me wrong, I love southern food. They don't serve it here in Arizona. The closest thing was a outfit called the Blackeyed Pea and they've been gone since the middle 80's. I have to go 30 miles to get Church's chicken. I truly loved it when I trucked down to the deep south to get good food. Here they cater heavily in mexican food and that gets old sometimes. Comprende?
What, no collard greens in the pot with the peas and hog parts??? I've been paying attention to my recently acquired southern friends and this is indeed a staple, a dish of great deliciousness. Some of any of the fine twangy sauce to fire it up a little, if that's to your liking. Getting hungry now!
