On an EV road trip to promote green tech, the US Energy Secretary and her entourage couldn’t find enough electric vehicle chargers. Meanwhile, there’s a spot in Central California at Harris Ranch in Coalinga (photo above), with chargers all over the place. We stopped there last Saturday and saw 2 cars hooked up. Oh, the big lot has a diesel generator hooked up to it. Go figure.
The caravan of electric vehicles heading from Charlotte to Memphis over the course of four days hit a snag in Grovestown, Georgia. The group was planning a quick charge when they realized there wouldn’t be enough electric vehicle chargers to go around since one was broken and the others were in use, NPR reported.
So an employee from the Department of Energy tried to save one of the spots using a gas-powered car.
It was a sweltering day and the move didn’t go over well with a family that was also waiting for a charging spot. The situation escalated to the point that the family, driving with a baby in their car, called the police, who didn’t have the authority to act because blocking an EV charging spot with a gas-power car isn’t illegal in Georgia, NPR reported.

So, they have a gas-powered vehicle running point to zip along to the next charging station. Check the milage from Charlotte to Groveston GA. It is less than 160 miles. The lean mean green machines had to stop just as the trip got going. Now that is a road trip. The stunning aspect of this is that the NPR reporter talked about all the "hiccups" at the charging station.
So an ordinary family, sweltering in the heat with a baby in their car, called the police on the entitled Washington, D.C. bigwig whose minions (in a gasoline-powered car, for a bit of irony), and the police did nothing. Meanwhile their PR stunt utterly backfired because why? Because our Energy Secretary is one of the STUPIDEST people in America.
At least she wasn't stealing luggage and or handbags off an airport carousal.
