We took our Ocean to our local CarMax store for an appraisal on March 29, to see how the value has been affected by the company’s woes. (Full disclosure: Edmunds is a division of CarMax.) We were presented with an offer of $21,000. That’s a depreciation of 69.6%.
He’s managed to build seven. He promised to build 500,000 of them. Congress gave him the money more than two years ago. With his term almost over he’s 499,993 short of the promised goal. You know that “infrastructure” bill he keeps bragging about in campaign commercials? This is what he’s bragging about.
North Carolina city spent millions on electric buses that don’t run. A government so stupid, it hurts. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom is going to blow a wad on electric buses. He’s like government even more stupid.
The city of Asheville, North Carolina, shelled out millions of dollars in 2018 to add five electric buses to its fleet. Now, three of the five sit idle, and city employees are telling the cautionary tale.
In the meantime, Asheville is staring down losses from a major investment. Morriss told WLOS that each bus cost at least $616,000, and the city had to spend another $200,000 for the installation of each charger, another $118,000 every year to lease batteries for the buses, and nearly $45,500 annually in electric costs to charge them.
She also noted that maintenance costs for the electric buses have topped $250,000.

On an EV road trip to promote green tech, the US Energy Secretary and her entourage couldn’t find enough electric vehicle chargers. Meanwhile, there’s a spot in Central California at Harris Ranch in Coalinga (photo above), with chargers all over the place. We stopped there last Saturday and saw 2 cars hooked up. Oh, the big lot has a diesel generator hooked up to it. Go figure.
The caravan of electric vehicles heading from Charlotte to Memphis over the course of four days hit a snag in Grovestown, Georgia. The group was planning a quick charge when they realized there wouldn’t be enough electric vehicle chargers to go around since one was broken and the others were in use, NPR reported.
So an employee from the Department of Energy tried to save one of the spots using a gas-powered car.
It was a sweltering day and the move didn’t go over well with a family that was also waiting for a charging spot. The situation escalated to the point that the family, driving with a baby in their car, called the police, who didn’t have the authority to act because blocking an EV charging spot with a gas-power car isn’t illegal in Georgia, NPR reported.

Electric truck charges for entire week, shows dismal 8 miles of range per day. Wow, a whopping 32 miles more range after charging for a week. This may explain why we saw one at the Lexus Dealer for sale.

Driver of Electric Vehicle Comes up With Solution to Drive 1,800 Miles Without Charging. So how much pollution did this generator spew out over 1,800 miles? You can bet it’s way more than a normal car would.

The last time we drove to Newport Beach it took about 7 hours, we can only imagine how long it would take in an electric car. Like several days?
“It was very difficult, O’Hashi told Cowboy State Daily. “For example, (it took) 15 hours to get from Cheyenne to Casper.”
O’Hashi found several major problems that EV dealers don’t talk about.
Firstly, he realized that if he is out on the open road and runs out of juice, he is forced to pay the expense of a tow truck to get him to the nearest charging station.
Secondly, since there are three types of charging stations all of which charge at different speeds, he was stuck waiting for widely varying numbers of hours. In fact, sometimes he would be forced to sit overnight, only to end up with enough battery power to drive a mere 40 miles.

Perhaps they should put a generator in the back of the pickup or their 30′ trailer for those occasions when the public chargers don’t work. Besides, it’s only 275 miles from Lincoln, NE to Ogalla, NE. Divide that by the 3 stops they made to charge up and it works out to a whopping 91.7 miles before charging is needed. What a joke.
Copper Thieves Are Cutting Electric Car Charging Cables and Stealing Them. Want to charge your electric vehicle? Well, forget about it. The worse the economy gets the more copper thieves will steal.
“They actually cut it while it was charging somebody’s car,” an employee at a targeted business told Motherboard.
The Reno, Nevada area appears to be getting hit particularly hard, according to a report by the local ABC affiliate KOLO. Three local charging stations were robbed recently, including one at a hotel and another at a mall.
US will need to build 478 EV charging ports EVERY DAY for the next eight years at a cost of $35B to meet demand for 1.2M public ports by 2030 (And that’s not counting the 28M needed in homes!) And this doesn’t include the cost of increasing the power grid dramatically. California can’t keep the power on now during times of high demand.
America would have to install 30 million electronic vehicle charging ports by 2030 if half of drivers switch to EVs by the time California‘s ban on gas cars takes effect.
If half of all vehicles sold are zero-emission by 2030, the country would need 1.2 million public chargers and 28 million private chargers by that year – which a McKinsey report claims would cost more than $35 billion over eight years.
