Dr. Carson has to be a quick thinker and a quick reactionary, otherwise he would not have been a successful neurosurgeon. Dealing with the pressure of life or death is certainly a way to measure ones ability to deal with the pressures of being president.
I have some reservations about a few of his positions and wish to hear more on them.
King Barky has experience dealing with pressure, he had to figure out how to not get caught giving away ice cream to his friends at the only other private sector job he ever held.
Oh, he failed at that too.

Here is his stance on some of the issues. I have a warm fuzzy about most of them.
Example:
•Semi-automatic weapons ok in countryside, but not cities. (Mar 2013)
This is usually from someone who is ill informed and feels that Semi-Automatic is related to rifles vs pistols. Not sure if Dr. Carson necessarily knows the difference, but I am sure if he did he could have this explained to him as a bit of a bad point.
I wonder if his position has SOME biblical implication.
It is lawful to kill a criminal (a robber, rapist, whatever) during the day in the country side with the understanding that there are no neighbors (military/police force) readily available and killing the threat is preferable than trying to detain the threat. The person is allowed to go free.
However, in the cities where military/police force AND neighbors are readily available (biblically speaking), killing someone is not lawful, because with experts and neighbors a person should be able to find the help needed to detain the threat so the criminal can face a judge. This is assuming that people actually care for one another's safety which is seriously lacking in our days.
In the Bible though this is so during the day, during the night (in the city) when neighbors and experts are not readily available it would be lawful to kill the criminal.
If Dr. Carson is viewing this from a Biblical point of view, he needs to understand many things: Like I stated earlier, even in cities, police forces may not be readily available in certain neighborhoods AND neighbors may not come to anyone's aid. The other thing that he needs to understand that even if people could count on neighbors, there is the night time when most criminals are active and with neighbors nor being readily available nor police, individuals in their homes need the protection.
This is just a theory, but if this is a reason for his thinking he needs to rethink his position when it comes to these days.

No problem. Your post made me think that perhaps he is viewing thing from a Biblical point of view but I don't know. It is a theory.
He is brilliant and charismatic, and it would be damning him with faint praise to say he would be better than the lackwit currently taking up space in the White House: THAT must be the lowest bar of all political time. If he becomes the nominee, I would vote for him unhesitatingly.
However.
I think one thing we have learned from the last several years is that it DOES take some particular kinds of experience to run a country, and that the old bromide that anyone can grow up to be president does not suggest that anyone SHOULD grow up to be president.
I am concerned about his lack of substantive political and diplomatic/international experience. Big ideas and sound principles are fine, but how will he translate those to actual day-to-day dealings with Democrats in Congress, or Democrat governors, Putin or ISIS? We DO get back to the question of the last campaign, Who is answering the phone at 3:00 in the morning? A president -- or the head of a board of advisors?

Dr. Carson already was audited by the IRS after he pointed out the many faults of Obama. My guess is every donor will get an audit.
I have not done enough research on the man but so far, except for some anti 2A comments, he looks like a solid man. Unlike Obama he was not affirmative actioned up and appears to be very intelligent. When he speaks there are not hundreds of "ahhhh"s, "ummm"s, or "errrr"s. Also I haven't heard him say "I", "me". "my", "mine", or any other NPD words.
He IS an intelligent man. He IS a genius. He essentially educated himself through medical school. He INVENTED medical procedures. He is a brain surgeon... the man IS intelligent. I bet he can read the Constitution and understand it at the level of a true Constitutional Professor without much effort.

He's sorta too pro gun-control for my tastes. That's one thing I can't look past in my Presidential nominee. He's said he doesn't think people in cities should be allowed to own guns.
I partially agree with this position.
When I sat partially, I mean I don’t think LIBERAL people in cities, suburbs, rural areas, remote locations, and surrounding planets, should be allowed to own guns, vote, hold political office, or draw breath.
If he is more pro state rights (need to read up a bit more to know) then hopefully he would direct that to them.
I'm also sure he is smart enough to listen to his advisors.
On the surface his point is to curtail gang warfare and to allow cops to be more involved in the communities. However, we all know that there is factual evidence that urban areas with practical use of guns in the hands of law abiding citizens curtails gang warfare and makes it easier for the cops to be involved in the communities. So like dany said hopefully this is something that he can "evolve" on sooner rather than later.
While I agree, I'm sure he can bring someone onboard to help educate him on the subject of firearms & the 2nd amendment. He is smart enough to bring in & listen to people who get that.
