Parking spot is a human right, Ottawa mother claims. Kinda trivializes the concept of “human right”, it does. On the other hand, “under the current zoning, front-yard parking isn’t permitted on her street, which is in a heritage preservation district.” Maybe if pompous nanny-state pols didn’t feel the need to invent this sort of official poop to micro-manage the world, silly justifications wouldn’t be needed.

"Ms. Howson and her husband have three children, aged one, four and nine. She told tribunal chairman Michael Gottheil that because of her family circumstances, she couldn’t reach the parking spot at the back of her century-old house."
Family circumstances? would that be fat? Lazy? or a combination of both?
Being unable to think at a higher level than her 9 year old?
I never thought being unable to drive constituted a family circumstance.
The woman-child once worked for the Rights Commissars, it's no surprise that she is an ignorant girl.
What she really needs, and a lot of little liberal girls do, is a spanking. That's about it.
That's a heritage preservation district?
Seriously?
Well, it is Ottawa.
Okay, the home of world-renowned Candian Cuisine. I got it.
Actually, I run across this sort of thing in my work. Some areas, like the Montrose section of South Orange, really do look like something different/special to the layperson's eye. But even within those kinds of "historic districts", you'll see blocks such as in that pic, that make you say "huh?" (or if you grew up where I did, that would be "say what?").
The gov't animal just can not resist inventing new methods of meddling in people's lives. They're hard wired that way. Our founding fathers knew that, and that is why they wrote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
And why modern day politicians and bureaucrats ignore both of them. They can't help it, it's in their genes.
A pox on both their houses. Park in your driveway, you silly blank, and buy a snow shovel and some deicer.
PS - but if you wanna see something really stupid-- from the same paper:

"Ms. Ketenci’s complaint, footnoted like an academic paper, argues ethical veganism involves a moral imperative and various devotional practices, like a religion. It is legally a “creed,” she says, and therefore discrimination against it violates the code."
