Paulson tipped off hedge funds before 2008 gov’t takeover of Fannie and Freddie

Treasury Sec’y Paulson tipped off hedge funds before 2008 gov’t takeover of Fannie and Freddie. “You just never ever do that as a government regulator — transmit nonpublic market information to market participants,” says a former general counsel at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. “There were no legitimate reasons for those disclosures.” Of course, there ARE illegitimate reasons for it… crony capitalism, for one.

  • When he was on TV in 2008, wiggling in his seat talking fast about throwing hundreds of billions of tax dollars to all these 'too big to fail' outfits I knew he was a dog. He was GW's dog, but that just made GW look even worse than he already did to me. I hate these people. I really do. This bastard would be one of the first put in front of the wall if things go the way they look like they might.

  • Isn't this the same company Timmy Geithner used to work for? And one of "Dear Leader's" biggest campaign contributors?

  • Someone remind me again how long the media fed on ENRON? Or Iran-Contra?

But yet this gets nary a sniff.

    • The MSM is corrupt, & most people see it. That's why the old school MSM institutions like the NYTimes, the 3 network evening newscasts, Time, & Newsweek, are dying. The folks are sick of it, & they tune in to FoxNews instead of CNN, MSNBC, & CurrentTV. Their 1st instinct when they want news is to hit the Drudge Report, & when they listen to news/talk radio, it ain't progressive talkers. Hell, if it were not for taxpayer subsidized NPR, news/talk radio would have no lib/prog voices at all. But it does'nt matter, the truth does'nt matter, objectivity does'nt matter, & that's why there is "nary a sniff".

    • I think they should give him soap on a rope in his jail cell. The rope can be about 40", and when the soap is gone, he can find another use for it that will keep himself off the streets.
