PayPal retreats ignominiously. Remember this story? Well, I received an email this afternoon:
“We value our relationship with you and work hard to communicate clearly. Recently, however, we did not live up to our own standards… yada yada yada…
We will not use autodialed or prerecorded calls or texts to contact our customers for marketing purposes without prior express written consent.
Customers can continue to enjoy our products and services without needing to consent to receive autodialed or prerecorded calls or texts.
We respect our customers’ communications preferences and recognize that their consent is required for certain autodialed and prerecorded calls and texts.

I have as much use for pay-pal as I have for painful rectal itch. They skirt around the no-call lists by saying people who purchased someone from one of their clients, have a working relationship with their sorry assed company. Then they sell your info to the highest bidder.
Well, since I usually spend several thousand dollars a month through their service, when I told them I don't want phone calls or I will cancel my account, they must have listened.
I use them because it's simpler way to accept credit card payments. I never got a marketing phone call from them, but my email is inundated with marketing from them.
We use square for accepting credit and debit cards. Much simpler, costs less.
I was personally boycotting them for years, just because they suck. I will continue.
I think CO2 deserves a round of one-handed clapping. Undoubtedly it was the enormous public pressure generated by his IHTM post that caused PayPal to reverse course.
