Police officer suspended after accidentally firing his gun in a strip club bathroom while off-duty

• I remember one of my uncles ( cut his teeth on shootin' irons) in a small burg in Missouri (name of Willard Mo, if memory serves)going hunting. He went to put his holstered .357 away without putting the thong on the hammer.
  Carried 6 rounds in his wheel gun. Pistol slipped from holster, hammer struck floor, discharged, round went through roof.
  We could see where the round excited by the lack of snow on that particular patch of roof. And he was dead sober at the time.

  No point or moral to this story, just a random memory skipping across the old cerebellum synopsis.

• I remember a local cop in NJ many years ago that got canned for shooting the mirrored ball in a strip club.
  He was off duty and drunk.
  Why do cops carry when they're drinking? I thought that was a no-no.

  • They don't need to be drunk to have an accidental discharge, years ago I was standing next to my patrol car, getting ready for the shift and a female officer was also loading her equipment, decided to check her shotgun and BOOM! good thing it was pointed straight up. One older large officer tried to stuff himself under his car when it happened. The Sergeants on duty took her out to the range for four hours of training with dummy rounds, loading and unloading, taking the gun apart and putting it back together....

    • I bet she didn't do again.

      As for the accidental discharge, gun and weapon. He just got mixed up with which one is for fighting and which one is for fun.

• He should be glad he didn't blow Little Johnny off his stump or he'd be taking more than an unpaid sabbatical!

  • If he has to go home and explain it to his wife, he might WISH he had shot himself.

• Nothing more embarrassing than premature firing of your weapon at a strip club. So I've heard.
