Politico Magazine says we should stop measuring GDP

• Why stop there? We ceased being a republic years ago. I'm just waiting for that "Reichstag Fire" moment, & when it meets the "Never waste a good crisis" crowd, it might be over.

• They just want to use the same "hockey stick" graph their pal Michael Mann used for the globull warming scam.

• Why? Can't they use the same Obama-core math like they do when reporting how "good" our economy is, and how "low" unemployment is?

• On hell! Just get rid of objective measurements of any kind! They're so mean and racist and objective and insenitive. Let's use something that better measures our intentions, not those nasty old results that seem to pop up when our good intentions invariably backfire.

    Just stop tracking GDP and give all businesses a participation trophy!
    That ought to make everyone feel good. Plus, when we stop measuring GDP, we won't have any benchmark by which to track how much debt we are in. When we are in debt at 3x GDP, it won't scare anyone, because they will have no idea how impossible it is to repay that. Not to mention the recent trick they have done, of not adding to the debt clock, because they have "borrowed" money from all goobermint retirement funds because they're afraid to let people know we need to raise the debt limit again.

    • Incidentally, a private corporation could not do that because it violates Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. But the federal government is all about not showing accrued liabilities to the sheep.

      • Well, "there's no point in scaring the people, we might get removed from power, and then what will happen?"

• To be fair to all, you could say the economy has not prospered under the current management, or lack thereof.

• i bet they have data collection and analysis at their magazine to be able to graph readership or their advertisers wouldn't be interested...
