Pope Francis says wasting food is like stealing from the poor: Pope guy we love you. But the only real way to help the materially poor of this world is by increasing the amount of wealth in it. And that sort of thing just doesn’t get done by guys that have taken a sincere vow of poverty.

When I was coming up in the 70s, "clean your plate, think of the poor" was big in Catholic circles. And so in 1971 when my brother was a first grader at a Catholic school, the policy was you couldn't go out to recess until your plate was clean. It seems sadistic to me, in thinking that probably everyone has a food or two that would make them throw up if they were forced to eat. And so one day, my first grade brother would not eat his sauerkraut. He was the last one in the cafeteria. A nun stood over him but he would not eat. Finally he was goaded into eating the cold sauerkraut. He broke out in hives and had to go home. That ended the "clean the plate" philosophy at the school. That and I suppose a few children throwing up when forced to eat something they absolutely detested. I'm glad the policy was changed right before I started school there, because I'm kind of a picky eater and would probably hurl if forced to eat any number of things.
Man. My torturer was my own father. I would not (and still to this day won't) eat eggs. I despise them. They make me want to vomit. Poached, fried, boiled, scrambled.. makes no difference. One Sunday when I was about 8 or 9, he got so mad that he would not let me leave the table until I ate scrambled eggs. I sat there so long the eggs became even grosser - hard and slimy at the same time. I'm sure he felt terrible after a few hours, but he couldn't back down, and I would have rather eaten cat poo than those eggs. I finally lied, wrapped them in my napkin, and went and flushed them down the toilet.
Guess what happens when napkins stuffed with eggs go down a toilet. About $500 worth of plumbing and cleanup (back then, lol). Not to mention, I used the bathroom in his office, so he was reminded of the incident for weeks afterwards. He never forced the issue again though :P
This would have been my pick for Pope, start at 1:40...

I HOPE THE SCREAMING BABY WAS ON A TAPE AND NO MORON PARENTS BROUGHT THEIR CHIL TO THIS EVENT!

You mean like Crowley?
Well, Corporate Greed DID steal my gold.
More like fool's gold crowley, & you had none to steal.
Idiot. Get a life, jack off.
You came out of your hole. That means 6 more weeks of stupidity.
Unless the food left over on our plates ends up in the mouths of those who are poor and hungry within a few hours, this type of over statements make no sense to me. No one is helped by leaving food on the plate. The poor and the hungry have to have their own food source and that is achieved through charity yes and capitalistic practices.
I think the theory is don't take more than you can eat. On average Americans wast about 40% of their food. If one doesn't buy excessive food thatends up in the trash, then more food is available for thepoor. Go to any restaraunt especially buffets and check the amount of uneaten food going in the trash.
