Preacher tells First Family, congregation: “Many unfairly expected a messiah that could cure the U.S. of all its problems, and now we see it’s not that easy.” Padre, here’s a few rubles, go buy a clue: who was it that raised those unfair expectations? Which candidate’s campaign and the media (ooops, same thing) went around talking about him in messianic terms???? BTW, if you’d have said this in 2008 when it mattered, you woulda been called a raaaaacist. Jerk.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • I've been voting for forty years and I've never pretended or believed that I was voting for a messiah, or a Dear Leader or a Fuhrer or anyone who could cure all our nation's problems. No single person can do that, and people who believe it are naive or stupid (probably stupid).

  • How many times did we have to see pictures of that Kenyan fool set just right to show a halo around his head?

  • In reading the article, I conclude:
    1) Had a white conservative evangelical preached the same sermon and used G.W. Bush's administration as an illustration for anything good, Barry Lynn, Morris Dees, ACLU goons, et al, would be up in arms.
    2) The sermon could have easily likened the former Illinois senator to King Herod for being in favor of killing so many babies.
    3) The pastor would have served the congregation best by preaching that, while Obama isn't the Antichrist, his economic policies (stimulus spending and new energy initiatives) do qualify him as the False Profit.

      For all the ominous warnings the leftists gave of a coming "theocracy" when George W. Bush was in office, I knew it would be the God-starved young liberals and liberals in general who would eventually try to fill the vacuums in their souls by making a politician into a messiah.
