Well this doesn't suck...
While I like my guns and all, I realize that the power of the federal government is to massive for any civilian uprising. Assume 80%... hell let's make it 50% of the people who work for the DHS, or DoD, or military (or whatever acronym you can think of) don't know (or care about) the Constitution and are absolutely fine with violating it in the name of keeping us safe. What am I suppose to do again?
Personally, I'd rather be free than safe. I honestly think we're just biding our time right now, being strung along while they let us have our guns and our free speech, until the day they decide they are powerful enough to take that away. I'm not a conspiracy theorist on this issue, but who would have thought, say during the Reagan administration, that old ladies would be strip searched and children molested (more or less) just to get on an airplane? Why is it crazy to say the government won't stop there?

WIN Sir: WIN WIN WIN!
I'm not too worried. I look at it this way, there are maybe 5 million total government employees. Many of them will not take up arms against the citizenry. However, let's say they all do. Here is the problem they face:
Using data provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding the number of hunting licenses issued throughout the country, the established baseline is 14,974,534 licenses (2011).
http://www.humanetrends.org/ht/number-of-hunting-licenses-issued-in-the-us/
They're outnumbered 3 to 1 at a minimum.
I don't disagree with that, but being an avid hunter (in Pennsylvania) most of my fellow hunters are Democrats. Heck I've been in a hunting camp since I was 10 (was there as a baby, but 10 was the first time I hunted), and while good people, I've heard a Democrat supporting message most often (i.e. let the government handle it).
Those people clearly won't stand up against the government. They will accept it, support it, and probably try to profit from it.
So let's say the DHS suddenly wants to search your home... I'm not doing anything wrong, you're probably not doing anything wrong, so why not let them? You and I know the answer to that question, but we live with people (family and friends), who trust the government before they trust the random citizen. I know it's crazy, but it's the truth.
So let's cut that 15 million hunters in half, than factor in the firepower and organization the federal government has. Who is going to win again?
I'll be honest, I'll win because my ass plans on avoiding the whole thing.
I'll win because I have better motivation.
Altho' I suppose it is encouraging at least that .40 cal is handgun, not rifle ammo, and unless I'm mistaken, the Glock 22/23 that it feeds is the #1 LE pistol these days. I mean I know there are a few carbines out there that take .40 and 9mm and such, but if this was like preparation for some kind of actual combat, wouldn't they be getting .223 or something else that was clearly rifle ammo?
By the ledger, they are buying rifle ammo (.223, .308, 30-06) also. And if it is intended for close quarter combat, as in house to house searches and confiscations (I would rather use a handgun, in this case). Plus the concealment factor of handguns.
Maybe they are prepping for an epidemic of suicides in near future, the ones where you have to shoot yourself 4 or 5 times to be successful.
Ah, I admit I didn't go to the ledger. OK I'm worried again.
Time for >me< to stock up on the 7.62x39.
I saw my new favorite weapon on Pawn Stars yesterday. But I'm guessing the ammo would be a bit pricey.

"But I’m guessing the ammo would be a bit pricey."
And a bit rare?
Only link about 37mm cannon ammo I could find quickly and it's about reloading the US 37mm shell:

And the cannon? $135,000.00 See link:

Need deep pockets to plink with this gun!
But it would chase off the nosy bastards!
land soft, kill quiet, devil's in baggy pants.
AIRBORNE monkey farmers! :D
not y'all, y'all are cool.
credit card edges, finger nail files. bamboo shishkabob sticks.
:)
"or they’re all awfully bad shots."
Unless they were an Army or Marine sniper, I would say they have very bad aim. The civilian LEO's that I've seen fire any weapon would have a hard time shooting themselves, let alone anyone else.
As far as prices go, guns and ammo ALWAYS increase in sales during a Presidential election year. There is a solution to both problems, load your own ammunition and practice, practice, practice!
Pink Floyd
I don't know about your LEO, but we have to qualify three times a year with a score of at least 75. One of those qualifications has to be a night qualification. Yes we have some that there's no way I'm on the firing line with. Then there are others who I know would hit the spot ever single time.
As for big sis outfit buying up all the ammo. I agree what better way to disarm the populace than to deny them ammo to use. That way there's no new gun laws to enact, just no ammo to put in them.
DEEP
soz, but i just had a thought i thought was pretty deep.
Considering the percentages of oppressed ppl between African slaves, Caucasian Slaves, oppressed Jews, and countless numbers of protestant Christians, HOW LIKELY DO YOU THINK it will be for the media to make a peepful of sound about how far Mormons have come in this country?
1 being VERY
eleventy being not at all.
Not 1 damn syllable will be uttered
Sounds to me like the liberal elite are getting very, very, nervous. They know the money has run out.
Buying that much ammo keeps prices sky high.
Now, who would want to do that?
Odds are it rots in warehouses or is shipped to Mexican drug lords.
Actually Fenster , your theory is the most plausible. This admin wants to do anything it can to keep us helpless, and jacking up the prices on guns and ammo is certainly one way to do that. I have noticed that even the price of .22 LR ammo has skyrocketed. Buying in bulk or reloading is one way to keep the cost down, but it is still getting expensive.
I got a letter (reid) saying assholes from uranus are going to screw ....
Jeebus Xmas, I tend to disregard a lot of the conspiracy stuff, but this is making even me a little nervous. Links there too to armored vehicles and bulletproof security stations they're buying.
Of course there's also a link to "Nazi Engineers, Secret U.S. Military Bases, and Elevators To The Subterranean and Submarine Depths" on "Alien Digest"....
You forgot the link to the site where Bigfoot was seen in the White House.
Wookie Bigfoot combo?
Sounds like the plot to another Japanese monster movie, "Bigfoot vs Wookie!"
