I read someone's post on Obama's discipliine theories. That Blacks are disproportionately punished, so schools need tobe sure that white kids and black kids are punished equally. Regardless of behaviour. It should show up here soon.

It disgusts me that the media is complicit in this crap - calling it "a GAME". It's no GAME! It is criminal behavior by violent punk thieves! They picked an old, vulnerable target and attacked him. They then ROBBED him. A GAME? I think not. They then repeated the process on another elderly, vulnerable man. That is not a game, or a prank. It is unadulterated crime. And the media, by casually reporting it as a game gone bad, is sending a subtle message that it's not a serious thing. This is infuriating and disgusting!

No out cry, no press conferences and no one calling for curfews this leaves me shocked. Where's the president, it happened right in his home town. Right along with several other murders this month.
It's all because this exposes the liberal home destroying and family first agenda. I'm willing to bet that all of them are being raised in a single parent home or by another family member. It's time the msm began to report these acts of senseless violence.
I agree with much of what you are saying, but single parenthood, in and of itself is a minor part of the problem. I raised my children alone, even when I was married, and none of my kids got into gangs (unless you count Band) no one did drugs, no one went to parties and drank or shared a bowlful of assorted prescription drugs. But then I was with them as much as humanly possible, we all were very involved in church, and we TALKED to each other.
I know many children who had single parent homes, and turned out just fine. I think it's the other way around. It is almost SOP to find that street thugs have single parent homes (plus poverty, substance abuse, violence, neglect, abuse, etc. etc. etc.), but that is just another symptom, and not a diagnosis. In those very same "broken window" neighborhoods there are single moms who are raising their children with moral values and an emphasis on education in the hopes that their kids will get out. And many do... proof that a single parent family is NOT a figurative death sentence.
I wish I had grown up in a single parent family. Then I wouldn't have been beaten regularly. Not spanking, but hospitalization type beating. I also wouldn't have had to witness my mother being beaten, and I wouldn't have had to retaliate in my teens and put my stepdad in the hospital. Bringing a "man" into the household isn't always the best course of action.
I do want to thank the police officer that finally intervened in a good way, though. My mother called the police when I turned the tables on my stepdad, thinking, most likely correctly, that I was going to kill him. While the ambulance attendants were bundling him up, the officer got my mom's story, then mine. He then asked me if I had anyplace I could go. I said yes, I could call my dad. He said "Get out of here. Anybody asks me, I have no idea who did this, and you weren't even here." I think maybe he might have been abused at some point also.

The DA should thank them. You practically need a video to get someone convicted these days. I don't know if juries are getting dumber or if forensics are simply too complex for them to grasp.
Okay, that's not exactly true. I've seen jurors interviewed after a case. I'm gonna have to go with "dumber."
All you have to do is step back, look at who is occupying the White House today. LOL...and you wonder if there is a chance that juries might be "getting dumber?"
I know, Dan, you're right. You want to think the OJ and Casey Anthony jurors are a fluke, but sadly it is not. My wife and I often discuss the need for a professional jury pool - we know it's not possible, but the ability for common people to REASON appears to be diminshing rapidly.
Like the old saying goes: Common sense is so rare that when you find someone who has it, you think they're a genius.
My dear old Dad (a lawyer) used to say that "a jury is comprised of twelve people who were too stupid to get out of jury duty".
These days juries are packed with Nancy Grace wanna-be's who think that because they watch crime and law dramas on TV believe they are experts in the law. If I were accused of any crime I would take my chances with a judge. No chance would an ignorant jury decide my fate!

Juries are filled with the ignorant and bored. Anyone with a brain and a desire to make more than $5 a day, will find a way out of jury duity.
I was called up once for jury duity and it was a drug (cocaine) case. The judge asked if I had any reason that I shouldn't be on the jury and I told him I have a friend that works for the DEA. He asked if it would influence my opinion and I said definately. I was excused.
Getting out of jury duity isn't that hard.
Of course lawyers on both sides of the equation are part of the problem. They do extensive work to analyze jurors, their likeli hodd to vote one way or another, and through voir dire, eliminate as many unfavorable as possible. I would LOVE to serve on a jury. But I have a degree, I am a nurse, I have been injured on the job and I used to work for an insueance company. Neither side would touch me with a 10 ft pole!

A few years ago I was in the jury pool for a felon who was being prosecuted for the illegal possession of a gun. I was quickly eliminated. The charged was a white male in his 30s. As a white male in my 40s, I wondered if the prosecution didn't want me on the jury. Oh well, I didn't really want to be on the jury, to tell you the truth.
Back when I was working full time, I managed to find a way out of jury duty every time. Now that I have many weekdays available, I think it would be interesting to serve on a jury, but have yet to be called up.
Of course, if I answer questions honestly, no attorney would allow me to serve. I think for myself, analyze situations logically, and seek justice. So I wouldn't put enough stock in their bullshit stories.
