The San Jose police department is under increasing scrutiny over charges that they allowed Trump supporters to be attacked by violent rioters following a Trump event.
The police chief Eddie Garcia has adamantly denied the charges.
The Mercury News reported:
San Jose police chief defends officers accused of failing to protect Trump supporters from violence
A day after a melee erupted outside a Donald Trump rally, the San Jose police chief and mayor on Friday defended themselves from a national backlash over their handling of the dramatic and at times violent protest.
On radio talk shows and across social media, some called for Mayor Sam Liccardo’s resignation because of his comments suggesting that Trump was to blame for igniting violence, while police were criticized for failing to protect Trump supporters from angry protesters throwing punches, water bottles and traffic cones. Some videos showed those attacks and suggested they were unprovoked, but others showed Trump supporters taunting protesters, ripping their Dump Trump signs and throwing the first punches.
While it appeared to many onlookers that police allowed the violence to proceed unchecked, San Jose police Chief Eddie Garcia insisted that it was more important for police to hold their “skirmish line” formations than to stop individual attacks. Four arrests were made.
“We are not an ‘occupying force’ and cannot reflect the chaotic tactics of the protesters,” Garcia told reporters. Unless a victim’s life was in peril or the violence was “spiraling out of control,” he said, officers held back to avoid inciting more violence and having the crowd turn on officers. He also said the 250 police weren’t enough to control the roughly 400 protesters.
The Mercury News lies. “Taunting” anti-Trump thugs does not excuse bloody public beatings.
What has gone largely unreported, is that police chief Eddie Garcia is affiliated with the far left group La Raza.
I believe that many Blacks were pelted with things and hosed down and worst when they protested during the civil rights era. Some people could say that they were idiots for taunting and antagonizing the police and the civilians with their speech (which was in most corners non violent) and they deserved the violent reactions against them...
Walking into a town with signs can be seen as a taunting move... Singing "We shall overcome" in front of a building can be seen as a taunting move...
(Although I don't agree with this move) walking into a restaurant and doing sit ins asking to be served were most definitely a taunting move again don't agree with this but guess what? It was their right and it was the business right not to serve them and ask them to leave as they were taking up space for paying customers (when they wouldn't move then get the police involved), but it wasn't their right to be personally violent with them and some were. It would have been just as wrong for the protester to then be violent back with the restaurant owner. Instead both parties could have responded to each other speech with more speech or simply walk away from one another once both sides had the opportunity to speak.
Just a thought.
I witnessed the civil rights movement. My parents drove to Chicago, Detroit and a smaller town Grand Rapids so we could see what was really happening.
I saw some terrible things for a six year old. I also some some wonderful things, like compassion and humanity.
Grand Rapids? That's where I am. Everything civil rights related in this city was basically a joke. The biggest event we had made white people look like idiots: they bussed black kids to a west side all-white high school and the white kids, I guess juiced up with prejudice they'd absorbed at home, stood on a hill and watched the buses pull up, then when the black kids were halfway to the school, walking between two lines of state troopers, the white kids came charging down the hill like it was a Civil War battle. Completely ridiculous. First time I was ever ashamed of my race. Nobody got hurt, nobody was really serious, it was just stupid. The troopers just turned to face the charge with a stance that said, "Do you morons really want a billy club in the head?" and that was the end of that. Meanwhile, the other three high schools in the city, including mine, were all about half and half & half black and white, and everybody got along fine.
And they are comparing Trump to Hitler, maybe they should read their history. Hitler used to send roving bands to other opponents rallies to intimidate their supporters, meanwhile the local mayor did nothing.
Trump is going to have to build a wall to protect the attendees from the protesters
And people wonder about the fascination with zombie horde attacks in the shooting community.
These cowards are all part of Soros group La Rosa. They are nothing but cowardly little pricks who when confronted by MEN will cut and run.
The douche bag at the door should have stepped in and helped her out.
What miserable little cowards. Who are those guys? What sort of men would gang up and bully a lone woman? They should be hunted down like dogs.
Agreed. If she had a gun though see the little bitch running for their lives.
In all fairness, the woman in question was taunting the protesters...so she kinda provoked it. She is lucky it was just an egg.
You're right. When you meet protesters, and turn your back to them, wearing the Trump shirt, and bounce around, pointing at the shirt, you are taunting an angry mob. Not smart.
Yes not smart. Her right? Yes. They were "protesting" = speech SHE was protesting = speech. Like TOG so sagely stated speech meets speech. They are BOTH equal... equally stupid...? Sure. But equal.
Once she got assaulted that was criminal behavior and no amount of "taunting" deserve it. Did she beat or throw shit at them (assault them)? No. Seriously? She DESERVED to get assaulted AND kidnapped (she was kept from leaving)... because she taunted them?! :-/ For real?! This is word right now? So had they raped her, that would have been deserving too? If she bounced her breasts at Muslims as a mocking gesture for their stance on the female form and how it should be covered up and they raped her or "simply" (in comparison) assaulted her or stoned her (in these UNITED STATES) she asked for it??!!!!???!!!
So if a White man taunts a Black man (and that is it, not even speech on violence just any other type of taunt and no physical threat nor action whatsoever) you good with the Black man assaulting the White man? Or any other example...?
Makes no sense.
If she had been wearing a miniskirt, would be OK to rape her.
If taunting justifies assault and stoning, does that justify pulling a gun and reducing the welfare roles?
Meet speech with speech.
No, not even close to the same thing. She made the conscious decision to engage them...it is not at all like they just came up on her while she was minding her own business.
NO sir, she went out to them, she sought to engage them and to taunt them...a deliberate decision on her part.
Stupid on her part because all that does is escalate things. and then she gets inside the doors and cries because they threw an egg after she chose to go out there and provoke them.
And NO, I wasn't justifying the throwing of food stuff, that is on the protesters and remains so. Still, she would benefit from learning that if you don't want trouble, don't go starting trouble. Ok? that's number one.
"No, not even close to the same thing. She made the conscious decision to engage them…it is not at all like they just came up on her while she was minding her own business."
It is comparable. Yes she did and that was her right. This is after all the United States of America. She had the right to be a dumb ass and meet the dumb ass speech of these so called protesters. They had the right to meet her taunt with more taunt and ridicule. They DID NOT have the right to assault her nor to prevent her from leaving. This is the United States. Okay there are consequences for actions, but if people aren't free to be idiots with their speech and in return they get assaulted, we are in very bad shape as a country.
"NO sir, she went out to them, she sought to engage them and to taunt them…a deliberate decision on her part."
Correct. She protested against their protest. She met their speech with her own speech. She is a dumb ass, but she is a free dumb ass living in a free country. Or so it should be. No where is it legal nor appropriate to meet someone speech with illegal and criminal behavior.
No... had the protesters not started their idiocy and allowed Trump's right of free speech and everyone's right of FREE assembly without violent behavior nothing would have been the problem.
They were not there for peaceful assembly as they did assaulted other Trump supporters who WERE essentially minding their own business.
Ok but if you are going to be a dumb @$$ then you can't cry fowl when you end up with egg on your face. She is lucky it wasn't worse.
It was a mob...that is why the police have riot gear. you leave it to the police but no, she had to be big and bad and then it backfired on her. Sorry but stupid gets no sympathy from me.
Have you noticed how the Trumpsters are all acting like Obamabots?
It's OK for you to voice your opinion as long as you agree with them, but if you don't, you're a racist/not conservative, and they all attack you. I have never seen you and I get so many TDs when we were arguing with Barky supporters, but Trumpsters are all going after JP, you, and I, all because we disagree with them and Trump.
I don't have a problem with KQ on this subject. At least she sees there is fault on both sides. which was the point I was making. And if you bear some of the fault then you also must accept some of the responsibility in the outcome.
I don't know where these other two are getting that I am excusing the mob just because I find fault with the lady in the story as well and will not give her a complete pass.
But if they can't be honest and have to twist things, they aren't worth my time.
As I said below, I wasn't talking about Kimmy. She is right, in that both sides bear responsibility. What I am saying is, if you want to taunt a riled up mob, you bear more than your share of responsibility, but not all of it. That mob went there looking for a fight, she just gave them a little extra push.
I am not a Trump supporter. I am not a Trump hater either. My argument is about the so called protesters and their treatment of the supporters and making a Constitutional argument.
I wasn't talking about you Kimmy. I was referring to those who keep denigrating "true conservatives" as if we weren't conservative because we disagree with Trump.
I believe in the wide tent philosophy. There is room for disagreement and it pains me to see conservatives go at it over this Trump situation.
That is not the point... *sighs* whatever... I tried.
It may not have been your point but it is mine. She doesn't get to claim victim when she was a willing participant. Which she became the second she chose to go to them and confront them. They would have likely left her alone so long as she left them alone, but she didn't. Until she went to them, they weren't even aware of her.
You are assuming that. The record shows that they have attacked other supporters who were just there. In that one and other places. No one says (at least not me) that she is a martyr. I just can't get with the camp of she deserved it and minimize the responsibility of the so called protesters. Yes you know their behavior is wrong we just disagree that she "deserved" it.
Nobody said she deserved it, we are just saying that she was stupid to taunt a riled up mob.
We agree with that. It seems however that her right to be a dumb ass is not being recognized and it seems to me that you guys were saying she was asking to be attacked. The attack was unconstitutional her speech wasn't.
So you are fine with pelting people carrying around Mexican flags at political rallies? I find that to be taunting. I'd end up on the news and the FBIs watch list.
Until we can have people attend political rallies without threat of violence, this is not going to end well.
Greg Gutfeld essentially stated that one of these days one of those supporters is going to violently react to their violent reactions, that is to say meeting violence with violence instead of meeting their violence with speech which is what this woman did (stupid ass yes, but her legal right after all).
If she had a gun, since she was assaulted and being kept from leaving and was surrounded by hostiles this situation would have ended up badly or at the very least if she had trigger control, we would have seen the bitches run away and laughed.
You clearly have reading comprehension issues.
There was no threat to that lady until SHE CHOSE to go out to them and escalate the situation.
Smart would have been not to put yourself in the middle of a mob.
SHE thought she was tough and that SHE was gonna show the mob what's what...then found out that by herself, she wasn't so tough after all.
To go out there ONE against a MOB is stupidity AND THAT is on her.
I never said that justified the mob's actions...but she does bear the responsibility of inserting HERSELF into that situation. She could have made a different choice but did not.
I have to disagree. The woman was cornered. I am surprised how "true conservatives" are so different from my views.
And yes, your case is she deserved to get raped because she dresed that way.s
No, that is NOT "my case".
I am saying she is no martyr, she is no innocent wallflower. She has culpability in this too because of her choice to involve herself in it.
She was safely out of the situation until SHE put herself in it by going to them. they did not single her out and target her. she made herself the target. Bottom line.
Now that said, it in no way excuses or justifies the actions of the mob. All I am saying is that both sides are responsible for their part.
Now, then if you and OTG can't be honest, and have to twist what I am actually saying to suit your false narrative, don't waste my time any further as neither one of you will be worth continuing a conversation with.
You've got that right drb.
Oh, stop it with the stupid, straw man argument. You know there is no legitimate comparison between the two situations. Also, conservative or not, common sense is still common sense, and she proved that she didn't have any by walking out there and taunting an angry mob.
I'm going to keep responding until the posts are only one letter wide.!
Good on you TOG.
Are you stupid enough to turn your back on an angry mob and taunt them?
If our country has gotten to the point where you have to watch what you wear in public or worry about being attacked for it- that is the end of democracy.
So, you think it's OK to wear a shirt that says "Fuck You Scumbag" or "Your Mother is a Whore" in public? There has to be some common sense used.
Question: Should I choke a bitch that wears a T-Shirt that says "I hate N*g*e*s"? ALL they are doing is wear a T-Shirt that says that... that is all...
Now I don't consider myself a n-word no matter what anyone says. I choose to make that word offensive or not to me and I choose my reaction to that t-shirt and the person wearing it.
Personally I would laugh at the bitch, if I ascertain that I was safe and I cared enough to make the time, I may even counter his or her speech with my own speech and debate the person. If I don't have the time, like I said I will laugh and keep it moving. The person has the right to their speech.
Are they dumb asses...? Yes. If they are in a private location can I ask the owner or people to remove this person? Yes if the private location does not agree with this speech that is their right. If they do, then I remove myself from the location. If it is a government or public arena, I just need to deal with it.
My ego in this case is not bruised nor attacked because I am not a n-word person. I've never been and I will never be one. I do understand the underlying hatred of Blacks that come with such a word, so even if my ego was bruised, I have NO RIGHT to choke the bitch just for wearing an offensive t-shirt.
That makes no sense.
And if I did attack the person even if just by throwing something at him or her and someone stated: "well the person asked for it... blah blah blah" that person is essentially incentivizing and legitimizing my criminal behavior. How is that good for a civilized society?
Do you remember this scene? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDnvXAkMnx8
Now... he did that for reasons regarding the plot and not because he actually hated n-word people.
But let's say that he did hate n-word people and wanted to share this belief system in Harlem. Absolutely insane and a dumb ass... but guess what? Constitutionally protected speech.
Zeus reaction here is correct. Sure he is angry, but he approaches this speech by creating speech of his own and in effect proves that he isn't a n-word person in his actions. He even offers safe harbor for the person believing him to be deranged in order to safeguard his life from those who... well... in effect proved themselves to be what the word essentially means by attacking the situation (speech with no violence) with violence.
It is like saying that those people that draw Momo and then get shot (in Paris).... or people come to shot at them (like in TX), completely and absolutely deserved it because they caused it by taunting and antagonizing Muslims.
A person can and should be outside a mosque or Islamic country embassy in the USA (or any other place for that matter) with a Momo drawing in protest of Islamic aggression all day long without violent repercussions. Sure it may seem a dumb ass move, but that is after all Constitutionally protected speech.T
he person should be given safe harbor from violent reactions and the people that do the violent reaction shouldn't be legitimized by the sense that their actions were okay because they were taunted.
Do you think someone would wear that shirt when approaching a crowd of Black Panthers? I'm talking about using common sense, and not taunting an already agitated crowd of left wing lunatics.
Re-read for I edited or rather added some points of view.
We are all agreeing on people being dumb asses is not a good thing. That is not the point!
Depends if your mom is a whore.
Can I start beating the crap out of Che Guevara Shirt dumbasses with no repercussions and get my mayor to back me up.
That makes no sense. We are talking about a woman taunting a crowd of violent libtards and illegals, they aren't exactly known for their restraint. You have to use common sense when dealing with crowds.
End of the Constitutional Federal Representative Republic... and I agree. Although people do have to be responsible in what they wear or their speech, in the end, it is expected for the other party to act like a human being and also be responsible with their actions or show restraint or appropriate reaction to what the other party is doing. That is how civilized societies work.
I wonder considering your words, TOG, If you are at all familiar with the history of this nation's Presidential campaigns. I don't think you are,Also, you just got (pardonme Females) bitch-slapped by DRB. So just lay back and enjoy it.
Is that a scarf you are wearing in your pic? I'm thinking you have a personal relationship with being bitch slapped.
As if blacks deserved the KKK because they were taunting whites by voting. This lady didn't deserve it.
Actually it was a pic of Canadian terrorist Justin beiber getting throttled on cam. Just bcuz my daddy thought it'd be funny to hand make a klansme gackgackgack. Pardon. Hey Guy. I ain't racist.
Sorry. I disagree. They were there to protest, they brought eggs and food to throw on anyone. Taunt or not they were there with violence and hatred. Instead of raising above the taunt what? they are going to thrown things at her? How is that awesome? How is that going to convince me that they have a right cause? Where is the whole video? How do you know that she provoked it as in started it first?, because they were there to protest with things at the ready to do what they wanted to do from the start, so one can easily assume it is there that provoked it and she responded and then they retaliated to her response, but had she had a gun the bitches would have run...
it isn't like they just came up on her...She made the conscious decision to go out to them and engage them and taunt them...to rub there noses in the fact that she supports Trump. OK...Sorry but girlfriend in the story needs to learn that is she "don't want nuthin' then don't go startin' nuthin'"
they are protesters looking for an excuse, she gave them one. That is on her.
Video and news report was on Fox news. And the report clearly stated that she went to them to confront and taunt.
Already responded
Would you turn your back on, and taunt people that are screaming at you?
If she had a gun, she'd be in jail right now. Remember, this is Kalifornia.
No. That is because I am me and not her. I would have sit my ass down somewhere and wait for the speech to happen or find out where else he is speaking if he decided not to do the speech (which is disgusting because his speech is being abridged).
However remember these words?:
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." -- S. G. Tallentyre
Nom de Plume of Evelyn Beatrice Hall (Voltaire's biographer).
Even of the WAY she said it can meet disapproval but I have to defend her right to be a dumb ass that didn't assault anyone.
She is a dumb ass, but she had the right to be a dumb ass. The crowd could have responded by taunting her back and meeting her speech with more speech. Instead they felt they had the right to assault her and essentially keeping her from leaving? That is not civilized and that is actually criminal behavior.
If she had trigger control all she had to do is watch the bitches scream, wet themselves and run away from her. If she didn't a fool who assaulted her would have died. In Texas that means she goes free. True maybe not in California.
“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” — S. G. Tallentyre
Yea, that's great, but you have to use a little common sense when facing a crowd of libtards and illegals, looking for a fight.
Again... that is not the point... but I tried...
There is no try. There is only do or do not. Yoda. Also the great debaters. :) and I beg your pardon for my interjection. (Sigh) again. 70x7
A good reason not to visit or spend any of my money in CA.
Wonder who payed them to protest?
Soros
1. Political violence has always come from the left, always.
2. As of an hour ago, CNN's web site did not have anything on the terror attacks in San Jose.
3. Imagine the sh!t storm if the right had done anything like this.
Unfortunately, your complaint contains more than a little hypocrisy, coming as it does from a Trump supporter. Republicans used to own the high ground. Now we rent it.
When you are in the midst of a battle (elections are battles) you fight your enemy on the terms they understand. The dip shits for years have followed this practice. The republicans would not punch back (see McCain and Romney). Trump has the experience in dealing with people who love to throw haymakers and mud. He is willing to get down and dirty and attack back. The last republican that went for the jugular was the older Bush when he showed what a true puss Dukakis is. What the republicans need now are men like Lee Atwater and not the likes of the dough boy's bastard son Rove.
You can fight back without ceding the high ground, without acting like an ignorant thug, and without inciting violence in your supporters. It's one thing that always made me proud of the Republican Party. My point about Trump is, once you've offered to pay a thug supporter's legal expenses and once you, as a presidential candidate, have expressed a desire to punch protesters in the face, you no longer have the high ground and you shouldn't be surprised when the campaign devolves into violence.
Gosh, I thought we were done with this I guess not.
You must be drunk or high. You fight the enemy to win. PERIOD. McRino and RINOMEY fought the high ground and got their butts kicked. That was terrible for the country. My guess you have not been a physical fight. You fight to win, to survive, to live.
Acting like an Obamabot doesn't further your position. The first thing you have done is accuse people of being high or drunk. It's not a good look for you.
This is where a gun in the face of the protestors would have worked.
