Rachel Maddow jumps on the Presidential dog pile, wants “adult talk” from President Obama

Tuesday night’s speech from the Oval Office seems to have amused the right and really annoyed the left.

Seems like everyone reported the Olbermann, Matthews, Fineman snit fit, but falling through the cracks was Rachel Maddow jumping on the presidential dog pile.

After leading off with a big sigh, Maddow said, “In the big picture I am excited to see the President treating this with the gravity of something that requires and Oval Office address to the nation. In terms of the content of that address to the nation…I think the country is ahead of the politicians, that we all need to hear a little bit more, and I think we could have all taken a little bit more adult talk from the President.”

Like we said, those of us on the right are amused. Not so much by what Obama said, but by what his strongest supporters said.

Is reality finally setting in? Nah, next time a major policy issue arises, they’ll be drawn back to him like a moth to a flame. Or like flies to shit. Take your choice.

  • I thought Rachel's definition of adult talk were terms like "teabaggers" and "teabagging".

  • Didn't they already study his speech patterns and sentence structure and decide that he speaks at about an 8th grade level? These guys are so in love with themselves and this is all about the media projecting its self-inflated selves onto The One. They think he is they, and they are he.Oh yeah...does anyone else remember the media and its describing the stock market advances under Bush as Irrational Exuberance? And also "a Jobless Recovery"What the hell does this make Obama's Economy...?

  • I believe the latter, "like flies to shit" is the most appropriate similie (speaking of adult talk).

  • Adult talk? If Obama uses adult talk, he'll be talking over the heads of his electorate. Better keep the lingo at about a 3rd grade level.

    • Obama will only use "adult talk" if he reads it from his telepromter. He has a hard time sounding like a rational American when he goes of the promter.

  • After the disaster to the woman's movement that was left by Sarah Palin, I would vote for Rachel Maddow for President of the U.S. in a heartbeat.

    • How does becoming wildly successful, managing a family, and standing up for your values and principles constitute "disaster to the woman's movement"? My impression was that the women's movement existed to provide all women the chance to pursue their ambitions and achieve their goals. We really should celebrate that Sarah Palin has been such a trailblazer for us.

And, Happy Father's Day to the dads - Admins, you are included in this well-wishing.

      • I agree. Sarah Palin is obviously a successful EXAMPLE of what the women's movement is SUPPOSED to be all about. I don't know how she does it, have a half a dozen kids, run a state, run for vice-presidency, be a wife, stay fit, look pretty, raise her kids, send of a child to war, take care of pretty much two babies, run a business, keep a man happy, be a commentator, be a role model, write books, etc... you would thing the women movement would have celebrated her and put her on their shoulders but noooooo... You see because she is a conservative they didn't. They wanted a liberal woman to have ALL of her act together to spring out and acquire the level of importance like Sarah Palin, they will have to continue to wait. Even though the left loves Oprah that woman does not have all her act together.

      • Silly you, Dee Mac (I mean that teasingly, please don't be offended). You really thought that was what the women's movement was about? The women's movement was about punishing men not equality. Sarah palin is the anti-feminist: she's a successful executive who cleaned her own house (Alaska Republicans... something liberal feminists refuse to do with the Democrat Party); she rejects abortion; she's happily married to a stud; she has mass appeal and that's just the cake. The icing is that she is drop-dead gorgeous and hotter than the proverbial two-dollar pistol. Whether or not she should be president is immaterial to me. What I like most is that she has beaten the hags at their own game.

        • Ummm, I guess I should have indicated my feigned idealism. I am, in real life, a cynical, cold calculating, political female dog. As a result, I love to throw liberal BS right back at them to give them something to think about. It takes courage or abject foolishness to come back and try to argue after your words have been tossed back in your face. I was just waiting to see if Tanya Tainted wanted to go another round. Guess not.

      • Thanks for the Father's Day wish. Editor and I spent some time together with our lovely wives, family and friends today.

        • My apologies to the Editor - Hope you had a wonderful Father's Day too. I did not mean to exclude you - You have my deepest, most humble apology.
