Mayor Thug (Rahm Emanuel) has decided to use health care as a method of controlling the off time lives of city workers. But we can imagine an era in the not so distant future when just such a mechanism is used against all citizens. Such is the almost inevitable result of a health care system that exists solely to buy the votes of the tax eaters with the labor of the tax slaves.

Rahm just wants more naked bodies in the gym while he runs around twisting arms. At least that's what they CLAIM he's twisting. Sorry, to offer the programs at no additional cost is one thing. To FORCE people into them is another thing all together.
Dude, it already is used - by the government controlled health insurance companies. At my company - thanks to Obamacare and it's new regs on health insurance - you have to pay an extra 250 bucks if you want the same insurance you had last year and not get a "health assessment". That means they check your cholesterol, your weight, blood pressure, your unhealthy habits yadda yadda yadda and let you know what YOU HAVE TO DO to keep on living and not costing them money.
Health care fascism is already upon us - thank you Obama and the fascist left.
I have to agree with the last three posters. Obviously it is a method of control. The problem that I see here is that how they are going to pay for these wellness programs UNLESS they raise the premiums or create an additional tax? If everyone signs up they will end up in a mess still. They have to count on those that DO NOT want to sign up to gain revenue. Once again socialism sounds good on paper, but at some point you run out of money to do these programs. However, like I said I agree with the last three posters. If they like their jobs and want to keep it they do one or the other, but if they tried to do this with non-city/non-federal/non-government workers that would be wrong and hence why Obamacare is a problem.
Truthfully, he's within his rights to do this. I find it amazing that he actually did something that he is Constitutionally allowed to do (10th Amendment), but fear that if it is successful it will become a Federal mandated part of Obama-Care.
This is an example of why Romney can wriggle out of the Mass-Care debacle hurting him in the election. It's something permitted at the State and Local level, but not Nationally.

I'm going to piss off some here when I say this, but I don't think this is such a horrible thing, as long as it stays focused on the mayor's employees. You want this job? Here's the rules of employment. It becomes nanny-state socialism when the mayor starts pushing this onto the general population. And of course, on a bigger scale Obamacare is much worse, mandating that all must buy health insurance.
Imagine the Wailing & Gnashing of Teeth™ when/if he ever tries to make welfare recipients "sign up or pay up"? (Although, that would probably never happen, since it would cost the National Democratic Socialist Workers' Party valuable votes from the Okra Win-Free bloc.)
The American Communist Liberation Union, along with other Marxist organizations, is suing the state of Florida over welfare recipients having to take drug tests in order for them to continue receiving "free" tax payers' money, on the grounds that it violates their civil rights. (I haven't figured out which "right" guarantees them a lifelong, responsibility-free, free ride on our dime--- It must be in one of those "Living, Breathing" articles of the Constitution that they keep locked away, deep in the bowels of the Library of Congress.)

Oh well, he left Obama knowing that he could socialize Chicago easier than he would the nation so he did right. He and Mitchele must be having tea together lately.
