  • Of course the problem with "Libertarianism" in general is that it wants to go back to a mythical, romantic past which never really existed. There was NEVER a time when we were the Constitutional Fundamentalists they fantasize about. In that sense, they're nearly as "Progressive" as any Progressive, wanting to move beyond where we've ever been!

    • I'm ok with that. Just because we've never actually followed the Constitution doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for it.

  • although i would like to see the republican party shift towards paul's ideals i recognize the most important thing above all else is the eviction of hussein obama and to accomplish this voting for romney is simply a must

  • Ron Paul has many GREAT ideas. Granted some not so great, but his biggest baggage are the many loons, nuts, and fruitcakes that make up his support base. Can you imagine how the Commie Media would absolutely destroy him based on this? They would just run a few interviews with his more rabid supporters. Remember you Ron Paul supporters, the average voter out there is easily brainwashed. Bottom line, Ron Paul is unelectable...and frankly that is probably a sad thing.

    • I think for every Ron Paul supporting 'loon' you see out there are probably about 10 other 'non-loons' out there. For instance many people who frequent this site like many of the things Ron Paul says. During a discussion with my mother back when the primary was going on, she like 'you know what, I like a lot of the things Ron Paul says' and I was like "WHAAAA?" considering she had been a moderate Democrat up till 4 years ago (I got her listening to talk radio, lol).

      I don't agree with everything Ron Paul says, but I consider myself a Ron Paul supporter because a lot of what he says sounds a TON better than anything any other candidate is saying. I don't like a lot of what Mittens says, but considering where the country is at I have to consider myself a Romney supporter, if I had my choice between Romney and Paul, it would be Paul, but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

      So I would say the amount of 'loon' Ron Paul supporters that you see only make up a fraction of those who like Ron Paul and what he has to say.

      • Joe. That's my point. The loudmouths are precisely the ones that the mediapukes will go after which is why I believe Paul is unelectable. Because you cant possibly overestimate the stupidity of the average voter.
        I personally could easily support Ron Paul. These days conservatives and America's biggest enemy is the media. This is why I finally agree that Romney is a good choice. I think everyone with a brain knows that if the media could have dug up or even fabricated something remotely believable, it would have been plastered all over the place every day. Instead all they have is that he and his buddies cut some guys hair 45 years ago or he put his dog carrier on the top of the car 20 years ago.
        Until we get a somewhat honest media in this country, many good conservative candidates are going to stay away from seeking public office.

        • I agree. I would also add that Ron Paul could never get elected because the conservative media at this time would never support him. FOX and most conservative radio hosts perpetually make fun of Ron Paul because he has a few loon supporters, however he has a lot of good ideas that they willingly overlook. A lot of these guys talk a good game, but Paul puts out ideas. He's actually serious about things like spending and the erosion of the Constitution, then puts out ideas to fix them, he doesn't just talk about them.

  • I wouldn't call him a man of the left by any means. He's a man of the Constitution, which means I like him. That was a good article about him, even though at times they seemed to be backstabbing him.

    Having said that, our resident idiot troll knows nothing about Paul, and has no business even talking about him.

    • As I have stated before, There are MANY of Paul's ideas which I support.

      However the ideas he has about the security of the country leave me cold.

      • Here's the way I figure the national security thing and Ron Paul. It always ends up in the form of a question that I can't help but ask: Is what we're doing now working? I don't think it is nor do I have a solution to the problem. It sucks, seems like we're damned if we do damned if we don't. Those people (middle east people) are crazy, you can't fix crazy. So Ron Paul has different ideas about national security. I think we need even more people with different ideas speaking out, maybe then we can come up with a real strategy that works.
