Someone stated that he is deciding to go because his time running away from Fast and Furious and other things has run out and Obama can't save his ass again. Wouldn't be surprised if that is the truth.

I heard that the reason he's retiring now is so that Obumble's nominee can get rubberstamped in the Lame Duck session whether the Republicrats win or the Democans keep control.
I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised by anything. I thought you needed to be a judge to be in the Supreme Court...? guess not...
I believe being a lawyer is enough, but that said, since when does anything resembling the law or the Constitution, ever made a difference to King Barky?

Opinion, as always no facts, I'm hoping they're (the Dems) are scrambling because they're afraid of Nov. and losing the Senate... if the "smart" powers that be (Rove et al) quit pissing off the very people they need to go vote. If the Dems lose, any nomination is gonna be a cat-fight. Why doesn't Mr. Rove get this? And stop kicking people like me in the teeth?
I'm either gonna vote for "our" guy or I'm going to be so disgusted that I won't even go. What's so hard to understand about that?

I hear ya, but I'm going to hold my nose and vote for whatever Repub is running despite clowns like Rove. Actually as usual, I will not be voting FOR someone but AGAINST some anti American asshole, ie any Democrat.
And that is what urinates me off, I've done it since McCain and I'm tired of voting to keep the other guy out. (the power elite hated Reagan too) Not that I'll stay home, but it's really making me wonder what my "side" sees as a victory.

Embrace the suk. Actually, it doesn't matter if Holder is on the Supremes, whom ever Obama nominates is going to be a leftist rubber stamp. I could see Holder being nominated though, to let the Dems knock him out so they can appear to be more centrist - then appoint the first openly gay Supreme who will vote exactly like Holder would have.
IMO, this is more likely a motivational move by Limbaugh to get the Republican establishment abused conservatives off their butts and into the fray. If the Dem controlled Senate appoints an Obama SCOTUS judge, it will mean gun banning and honest to Marx American socialism within your lifetimes.
Fortunately, the only supreme that is near retiring is Darth Vader Ginsberg, which would mean whoever Obungles appoints will not change the dynamic of the court, just keep the number of Dumbs on the court the same. I don't see Holder getting approved. He has too many skeletons in his closet, and if we get a CONSERVATIVE president, the new USAG will be prosecuting Holder, and it won't look good for the court to have one of their own going to prison. Besides, if that were to happen, it would leave an opening for a Republican President to appoint another right wing judge to replace a left winger, and stack the court for decades.
