Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

YES WE CAN!!!
Well to be as fair as possible, the story does mention rumors of illegal activity. These days that's enough to confidently state the city is run by felons, right?
San Bernardino County, and the City of San Bernardino specifically, have long been havens for those on welfare. I mean, if you get a specified amount of benefits, why live someplace with a high cost of living? If you live in the low-rent district, like Muscoy for example, (Google Muscoy, go to images), you can afford a much larger LCD TV, and shinier rims for your low rider.
Makes one wonder how well the city would do if they just turned the keys over to the Hell's Angels. They have a knack for being profitable.
You people on the government tit just haven't figured it out. All you have to do is wring the neck of the golden goose a little harder and more money will pour out just like it always has. What that you say? The goose is dead. Oh. Never mind, you're screwed. But make sure you pay your union dues.
Jeez, when is this going to stop? Can you imagine trying to sell California municipal bonds right now? Or for the next twenty years? They're going to HAVE to start living within their means because NOBODY is going to lend them money. Even the healthy cities (if there are any) are going to get laughed out of the room when they try to sell bonds.
Oh well, Berdoo bites the big one!
Not surprised, what does surprise me is that more cities in Kali haven't filed.
The state thinks so highly of itself because of it's celebrity population, and left wing values, yet it insists on paying it's employees one of the highest salaries in the country. How very un-leftist of them!
Maybe they should start rethinking the 6 figure pay scale for their trash collectors and lifeguards!
