School bans Thanksgiving and Columbus Day holidays because they are ‘insensitive’ to Native Americans

• Just how did someone with this belief system gain so much control over the youth? Parents, you are to blame...or just maybe you are aiding and abetting based on your own belief system?

  • So many things... it could be laziness, ignorance and parents being liberal progressives themselves. Overall I agree that apart from the possibility of the parents being stupid themselves, parents really are not doing their side to protect their kids.

• I don't think the communist celebrated these holidays either. Are they going to abolish Christmas because Christ wasn't a muslim and maybe because he wasn't black that made it raaaaacism? This is why kids need to be educated at home. FK the public school system and the socialists who indoctrinate there.

  • We already lost Mayday. When I was a chld, we made little baskets out of paper and put flowers and fruit in them and hung them on our parents' doors, or those of close neighbors. But the Communists co-opted the day as International Workers Day, and we lost the holiday all together. Sort of like the way the rainbow has been co-opted by gays.

      • That actually was a really big coup for us. Right up there with the repeal of Texas's anti-sodomy law and more recently the reversal of the Don't ask Don't Tell policy. Of course it was before my time but Ive heard the elder queens(btw Kimmy are you one of the lucky deprogrammed gays who keeps queen in your name as a reminder to stay clean whenever the urge to have relations with someone of the same gender rears its guttural inclinations in your head?) speak of those dark times whenever we gather around a fabulous bonfire to discuss tactics for the advancement of recruiting new youths into gaydom. They speak of a time when rainbows were once the strict domain of the "breeders". And how the joys of blasting those little green suited Leprechauns with several rounds of buckshot and then enjoying the spoils of a new found pot of gold were privledges afforded only to the hetero's. Until a small group of highly trained fags operating in complete secrecy were able to infiltrate the "Rainbow connection" thanks in part to long hours spent mastering the ancient art of Female Diva Celebrity Impersonators they were able to go deep undercover and while there they employed the use of "Jazz Hands" which confused and entertained the keepers of the
        Deeds to "ROY G BIV" so they could be secreted away back to our Impenetrable Lair of Fabulousness. And as many know it was only a short while later that we announced to the world that we were now solely and completely in control of any and all rainbow magic henceforth as the new deed holders. Its actually common knowledge that the recent devaluation in the gold market is directly related to the recent explosion in new gayees that have joined our ranks giving them each rights to hunt out rainbows themselves and has therefore caused a marked depletion in the amount of available gold through private acquisition of those pots.

        Are you serious??? We co-opted the rainbow? From who? The Grand Old Pegasus party? Kermit the Frog? Judy Garland? A box of Lucky Charms? I didn't realize someone before us "gays" had copyrighted the random occurrence of the bending of the visible light spectrum in nature. You don't owe me anything so I can only ask this as a favor, but please from now on just say what you mean instead of creating some really unconnected and just plain ridiculous reason to give your hatred viability. If you take issue with homosexuality that's fine you are entitled to your opinions and I would genuinely respect them, provided you own them and are honest about them . Without that we will never be able to find some way make it any further in this world as a race, as a species, as humanity.

        I sincerely wish you well so please don't twist these words as an attack, they aren't meant to be, Nor is my goal to change your mind on your values or beliefs, I just think everyone, myself included could really benefit from seeing everyone else first as a human being instead of a liberal or a conservative, a gay or a straight, a muslim or a christian, an Asian or a Native American and so on and so on....

    • Yeah, but we southwesterners still have Cinco de Mayo. This is a little history lesson on the Mexican holiday.

  • Everything. Actually Columbus did not discover America-He discovered the West Indies. An Irish monk is reputed to have made it to America, and clear proof has been found that Vikings were here long before Columbus. The holiday is an American tradition. Thanksgiving harks back to the thankfulness of the Pilgims when the Indians saved their asses and kept them from starving to death. I can sort of understand Halloween, but the religious significance of All Hallows Eve has pretty much been bred out of the holiday. So this is PC gone awry. And Mr. Editor, please note, the Principle made this decision, not the teachers. I think teachers are getting the rap for a lot of decisions that are made way above their heads, in the lofty administration offices.

    • I wrote an article on this subject, you can find it on therightplanet.com. The whole thing is stupid as is the principal, who obviously knows nothing about our history. She does not belong anywhere near a school in any capacity.

  • These are federal holidays and the kids especially look forward to them. Even though they of course celebrate in their homes, it is tradition for the school to join into the celebration and take the opportunity TO TEACH the students as to the meaning of the holidays. Banning the holidays from the school is an indication of being anti-cultural or biased against the community at large.

• Well if they banned Columbus Day and Thanksgiving, then the schools should be open and the teachers should be teaching. The borad offices should be open and classes should be taught.

• Well, I was gonna put down a ten-spot on California, but just about as bad -- right here in Massa-two-shits. Of course Christmas and Easter are long gone from the public school calendar, and if Passover and Yom Kippur are there it's a surprise.

  I'm sure there's plenty of room for Kwanzaaaaaaa , Ramadan, and Eid-al-fitr tho'.
