Science and Common Sense in the Debate about Masks

Science and Common Sense in the Debate about Masks. To mask or not to mask? That is the question.

Masks are currently the hot button coronavirus topic. Should people be forced to wear them? Who should wear them? Do they offer protection? How much protection? The fact of the matter is, no American wants to die from anything–let alone coronavirus. If you give an American the honest truth about the risks of the disease and the effectiveness of the tools they can use to help themselves, they’ll rise to the occasion to do what makes sense.

That’s why it’s been surprising to many that our medical and scientific leaders have been so unclear about the mask issue. These leaders have made it almost impossible for anyone to know how to protect themselves.

  • Masks only work if 100 percent of the people wear them 100 percent correctly and 100 percent of the time. And with most having them cover the mouth but not the nose, it's not doing a bit of good. May as well not wear them at all. Same with gloves, tear the finger tip off so you can actually pick things up, well, may as well not even bother putting the gloves on to begin with.

    • Don't forget that they must use the correct masks!
Sorry, but a bandana or these dust masks I see everyone wearing that don't fit snugly are useless!

  • This sucks.
I am a no mask person.
I have COPD and a deviated septum, as well as extreme claustrophobia.
I am flying Southwest in 4 weeks and just found out that they changed their policy to where they no longer allow medical exemptions. Wear a mask or you don't fly!
