Video at the link – it’s a Helen Thomas clone who says “Romney will destroy this country” and “If I see him I would like to kill him.” The party of tolerance and civility displaying their usual intolerance and uncivilness. At least she didn’t call him a “Nazi.” Oh, and her hat seems to think Puerto Rico is the 51st state. Only 6 more to go, Barry.

This screeching old bag is one of the 1/3 or so of Puerto Ricans who want to make PR a real state, not just a holding. So far, the opponents to that have preferred to stay on the US dole, with free travel in and out of the country. Personally, I think they shouldbe cut loose as their own country, a la the Phillipines.

Can anyone say that they saw a really happy Democrat at the convention? You know...one filled with total joy about all things good done for and by them by the current Administration? The kind of joy that makes you happy with the world and just bubbling to share with everyone you meet? I only saw a really hateful, angry, bitter mob. If what the Democrats are trying to sell makes one like that - I'll gladly pass, thank you.
I'm not so sure you watched the convention.. There were tears of joy. This is just like liberals who keep saying the RNC was lacking in enthusiasm, and full of disdain, or that Republicans don't like their candidate, that they don't have an old star like Big Dog Clinton, that the tweet numbers demonstrated a lack of conviction and social web organizing.. Dems got themselves fired up over this DNC. Politically this was a good convention for them, as was the RNC. I found Obama's speech rather typical for him and bit boring. Much enjoyed the sharp battle lines of Clinton's rhetoric. I'm hoping we see some fine debate over these remaining weeks
I think the key is that Barry "spoke to the base", while Slick Willy spoke to the undecideds. It was Barry's crowd to lose -- love him, or hate him, Clinton has charisma and can get a crowd warmed up.
Then Barry lost the crowd. No alley oop play here.
Clinton said "We're gonna make changes and fix this!", and instead, Barry said "We're doing just fine. Everything's proceeding according to plan." His comments about being the president calls to mind the line from Grumpy Old Men when the one guy noticed that someone was moving in across the street: "Oh, you picked up on that. Slick. NOTHING gets by *YOU*." Much like his saying his opponents were inexperienced -- ludicrous, really.
We need ideas, and going by his logic, we should have given Bush 4 more years in the last election. (Or Clinton -- he at least could stick his finger (or other appendage) in the air, see which way the wind was blowing, and make changes. In a way, I get the impression that his speech was more of a "Miss me yet?" thing, and yes, I'd prefer him (or a ham sandwich) to Obama, so I'd have to say yes.)
Sure, the people that were already going to love him loved it -- that's the thing about an irrational, unconditional love that manifests itself in leg-tingles. But I don't note enthusiasm in your post, meaning that he did *not* win you over with what he sees as his scintillating logic and overwhelming personality -- instead, you're looking forward to what you see as a series of debates -- but that I fear is merely an aid worker's food fight in Ethiopia. Even if it is one-sided, it's still disgusting.
The long and short of it to me is that Romney just got handed a HUUUUGE opening. If it was Ryan on the top of the ticket, HE'D run with it. Not so sure about what Romney would do. Right now, the best political advertisement for Romney is Obama's speech. Are *you* OK with continuing as we have for the past 4 years, or do you want to make a change?

One thing I haven't seen discussed is how happily Clinton eviscerated a consistent Obama charge from the 2008 primary: that the Clintons represented a frightful return to the era of 90's partisanship. How foolish that sounds now. Clinton made several significant references to how he worked with Republicans (while he derided--in his view--the hatred of today's Republicans)
I remember noticing another subtle dig at Obama but can't recall it now. Redditors haven't seemed to notice either one

I think that situations like this are where Clinton's experience shows, and Obama's inexperience also shows. I fully anticipated a pivot after Election 2010 AKA "The Shellackening".
Obama's lack of a pivot at the time, when all of his future agenda items were going to get eviscerated showed he was willing to settle for all of nothing than get half of something -- which is the opposite of Clinton, who would rather get half of something than all of nothing. Evidently, he figured he could sell the urea from the resulting 2-year pissing match, which a Clinton or other experienced politician would have avoided from the git-go.
I fear people that think Pyrrhic victories are a a good thing. Especially if they're in charge of my life.
In short, it seems to be the difference between a politician and an autocrat.
I'm not nostalgic for the Clinton Era but he did pivot as you say and he mostly stayed out of the way of the boom economy.
I guess to refine my point, pivoting to acknowledge electoral realities makes Clinton officially "not an idiot", and by exclusion, shows exactly what Barry is.
It doesn't make Clinton "the Bestest President ever IMO" -- just "not an idiot".

I see your point but there are wierdos out there who think BHO should be totalitarian of the world. It's possible maybe that BHO thinks *he* could be elevated to that very position if he can weaken the U.S. and destroy the Constitution and hand us over to the "New World Order"
In many ways yes. Except Mussolini was a nationalist. He wanted to recapture Roman Glory. Economically, BHO is a fascist but he is an internationalist politically- that's why he wants the US weakened, to even the playing field, in his bizarre worldview.. Both men were/are stone cold socialists.

When I read the headline I thought that perhaps the SS shouldn't be bothering with someone expressing hyperbole. But after watching the video I'm no so sure that she was kidding.
This is not the Democrat Party that my mother voted for in 1960. Today's Democrats are inarticulate, intolerant, nasty, stupid and potentially violent. This may become a real problem if Obama is defeated in November.
