Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE): Save the US Postal Service with wind farms. Yeah, this guy wants “to harvest the electricity that windmill farms produce in order to power a new fleet of battery-operated postal delivery vehicles, replacing the previous ’25 to 30 years old’ ‘dilapidated’ vehicles.” Ummm, just how is spending a bunch of money to buy battery-powered trucks gonna save the USPS when the problem is there are fewer and fewer customers for their services? Politicians not only do not have the answers, they don’t even understand the damn questions.

But I do love those prestamped return envelopes. I LOVE to shred the garbage mail and send it back at their expense.
At the same tim ethat the Post office is whining about being unable to conjur up enoough money to survive, they are introducing yet another worthless direct mail advertising scheme. These guys pay less than nothing for this type of mail, and it is the vast majority of what is delivered. Perhaps if the were to start charging market price for them, regular mail would quit increasing in cost and the P.O. would be fine. I can't even mail a letter where I live. They have removed all the public boxes, the mail at my apartment is not secure (to say the least) and no one wants to mail payments,etc for fear they will be stolen. People who don't have bank accounts and/or internet access actually go phyically to a number of grocers, etc to pay bills. Oh,m you can't go to the business topay. All the payments are sent to a central billing area that isn't even in town!
The other day I was talking to the guy that delivers my mail. I mentioned that he seems to be coming around earlier every day. His response was that there just isn't as much mail to deliver any more.
I'm kind of surprised he didn't suggest using unicorns to pull mail chariots.
Two years ago this dumbass idea would have been part of the stimulus.

Better watch these idiots, they will try to slide in a E-Mail tax in the next 2,700 page bail-out bill to rescue all the uselessly redundant Union employees at the USPS.
A good 80-90% of what comes in my mailbox these days is completely worthless bulk advertising, which goes directly into the paper recycle box, unread.
Dump that crap, and your mail carrier's load goes way down. As do your processing expenses.
