The difference is that is Clint's job description, and not Harkin's.
Tom Harkin's longevity in the Senate is like a cancer that cannot be cut out. How has he done this? Iowa's economy is largely ag related and of course he has rewarded his farmer constituents for decades now, with subsidies out the ass! He has guaranteed their prosperity and well being, by removing the risk and making farmers totally dependent on government. It is people like Harkin who have been given way to much time and power to destroy that great leveler, the marketplace.
Is Tom Harkin still relevant to anyone outside of Iowa?
They're still hating on Clint for "Gran Torino", one of the most underrated movies I've seen in a long time. It didn't confirm their preconceived notions about race, and so they had to use straw men to suppress it.
