Six hour test of new Nevada solar plant torches 130 birds. And they were only using one third of the mirrors:
The test started at 9:00 a.m. on January 14… By 10:30, biologists working on the site began noticing what have become known as “streamers,” trails of smoke and water vapor caused by birds entering the field of concentrated solar energy… and igniting.

Wow cool that's a kill ratio of about 1.5 birds per minute. How long before the birds go on the endangered species lists and we have to shut down the solar panels. So No wind (kills birds) no solar (roasts birds) no coal, nat gas, diesel, atomic, can't burn wood or candles...so we go back to living in the 1800's where life revolves around sun up to sun down? And the democrats say theirs is the party of progress to what 200 years AGO?
And don't those death-spiraling smoking birds land on the mirrors when they crash? Seems like a layer of dead cooked birds on the mirrors would affect the overall efficiency of the plant. But what do I know? I don't have a degree in solar energy tax credits from the Berkeley School (BS) of Engineering.
Obviously, we need to paint the birds white so that they don't get as hot. Maybe that is the jobs program we need for ISIS.
Do we need a huge Lanai cage like they put over pools in Florida?
Painting them white would be racist
Blackbirds would claim it's white privilege....The NAABB would be winging in to peck someones eyes out...New Hashtag #Blackbirds matter.....The Crows would start bombing the solar plants employee's cars with bird poo.
So another question, these things get hot, do you suppose they are causing global warming?????
Well they are turning birds into the dreaded carbon, maybe they should be taxed.
Eventually the bird population will be reduced to the point that the number of birds killed will be insignificant.
As long as not a drop of oil ever gets on a sea bird then it is worth the million of deaths of birds and bats each year that solar and wind power it is worth it.
Oil is icky.
Plus, all birds are notorious troublemakers. http://foghornleghornquotes.com
Combine solar plants with wind turbines and you could produce instant bird burgers.
There are scientific complications to your idea. Do you run them through the windmill first and then cook them, or cook them in the solar plant and then chop them up? Maybe Stephen Hawking has an opinion.
If you shred them first, you make burgers, if you cook them first, you make pulled chicken.
A pulled sage-grouse sandwich sounds pretty good.
Do those things fly high enough to get cooked? We might have to limit the menu to pulled duck, pulled goose, and pulled bald eagle.
Pulled seagull?
Only in Utah!
Oh! See? We didn't even need Hawking. So which one are we making?
Both.
When do they test a plane load of Nevada democrats flying low over the site?
How about shooting Harry Reid over with a catapult?
Like punkin' chunkin'?

Well that's easy to solve, you only turn it on at night!
Yea, That way they can get a few of the moonbats.
On a positive note: if you work at one of these solar plants you never have to worry about lunch. You just go outside at noon and stand there with a plate.
It's a carbon free method of cooking.
Not really, they are turning the birds into carbonized charcoal.
If they can figure out how to capture and sequester the carbon in the smoke of those burning birds... well, then Gaia will be happy.
