      • He loved Lazarus, and as a human, he mourned his death, and the pain his family were enduring. Then he raised Lazarus and all the tears were dried. Just like he does in everyone's life. There may be tears, but HE is there to wipe them away.

        • I don't disagree with you. And I like that you know tears will be wiped away in Heaven. We used to sing a song, no tears in heaven. but when i grew older i realized that song was wrong.
          And God shall wipe away all teares from their eyes: and there shall bee no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there bee any more paine: for the former things are passed away.

      If you look close, you will notice the guards are not wearing any insignia of rank. This is so the guard does not out rank the unknowns. The commander may wear his rank. In this video he was a specialist, but not wearing the rank.
      It took a lot of work, for each guard to get to their post. This is a very elite unit, so getting the assignment is not easy. It also requires a large amount of spit and polish, far beyond anything us field troops ever experience. They do this every day.

      • Yes, they live to keep their uniforms perfect. I didn't have the patience to do that. But I respect the guys that can do it.

  • This is what DUTY means, hell or high high water you just do it!! Hot, cold, dry, wet.

    I salute these patriots!

    Politicians could learn a lot by just watching these guys in action.

  • These are MEN of Honor who understand their obligation to those that are resting in front of them. In the past the Old Guard has been instructed that they could not stand watch, all refused.

    This picture should be in every single class room across this country. That way, the pupils and teachers can see true men and what honoring their obligations means.

      I've heard today that this photo was actually snapped last month during a rainstorm and is not related to Sandy.

        I have the same issue with the my iPhone at times. It does the auto correct and I tend to fat finger the TU. No problem at all. I was aware that the photo was taken last month, yet these men stand their watch and post no matter what.

          • That's true. The men that guard the tomb stand their post no matter what. They have been told several times that the weather was too severe, and they didn't have to stand the post, every single time, they refused to stand down.
            It's a tribute to their dedication and honor.

      • It doesn't matter when this pic was taken. If you could be at Arlington right now you would see a guard proudly standing his duty.

      • RE photo of 3 guards: yes it was but that fact was disclosed in the original story, so I don't feel it's particularly scandalous...however scrolling further down would show a second picture of a single guard on duty from today.
