Let them kill off all the bats, then they will only have to deal with the mosquitos! It'll serve them right!

When all we really needed to do was make sure there was good habitat for bats to thrive in? Back when I lived in Joshua Tree, CA, I used to love my morning drive to the highway in the dark, with bats flitting around in my headlights, looking for insects.
I live in San Antonio, about 10 miles from the largest colony of free tailed bats in the world. Austing also has a sizable colony and people go just to see them leave their caves at dusk to feed. I dread to think how much worse our bug problems would be without the bats!

Thiose are vampire bats. These are Mexican free tail bats. See? even the bats come here to live!

Dead birds and dead bats aren't as photogenic as cute little polar bears cubs clinging to ice floes. But fewer birds and bats mean more insects and more crop damage. But wait! Doesn't more crop damage mean we need more insecticides? And doesn't more insecticides mean more dead birds and bats? Holy conundrum Al Gore, what are we to do? There must be a solution that makes more money for you.
Seriously, bats are already dying off from white nose disease in some parts of the country. Like bees and butterflies, they are essential for agricultural success. They may not be as cute, but we will feel their absence much more!

The only dead birds that matter are those from oil spills. With all the dead bats there will be some unintended consequences of certain insect population explosions that will probably wipe out millions of acres of food crops.
My rule is that if a Liberal is for something it will be detrimental to mankind as a whole. Always has been. Always will be.
