• It's all an insurance scam, because the place will be burned to the ground shortly after the locals find out they want $10 bucks for a lousy cup of coffee.

• There has been a sad looking Starbucks near Midway Airport on Chicago's South Side for years. The business model exists as I'm certain it is a company rather than a franchised store. HQ surely subsidizes it and will likely do so with their PR stunt stores. Good luck with that.

    • Ha! It is a PR stunt and he thinks that people are stupid and forget soon enough.

• It will go broke in record time. The locals won't be able to stomach expensive, nasty tasting coffee for more than a month or two.

  • Why do people think Starbuck's don't have any stores in any urban area in the nation? Ya think it might be that you can't sell an over priced product in areas where people have no money?

• The only reason they are doing is is the ration of crap they got for their stupid Race Together bullshit. They got called on not having stores in poor areas...They will have to subsidize this one in Ferguson, and probably should have a glass company on call 24/7 to replace the windows when it gets broken into or is in the way of a protest.

• First, we will never see this store open.
  Second, does Starbucks accept EBT? If not well...
  Third, just one more reason to never set foot in a Starbucks.

  • I've been in a Starbucks about twice in my life. Overpriced coffee and snooty people there hell no... not my thing.

    • Same here. I just can't see spending 5 bucks for coffee, when I can get my raw caffeine in so many more affordable ways. I know it's all about the status, but status don't pay no bills.

        • Actually, Kimmy, it seems that many ARE impressed by it, or StarStrucks wouldn't be making so much money. They don't have any of MINE, though.

        • My lady was in line at the local StarStrucks when the computers went out and they started giving away coffee. It was explained to her by the manager that they COULD have kept making sales, and kept a ledger on a piece of paper, but preferred to just give the stuff away. What a bunch of lazy, illiterate, unmotivated pukes.

        • They probably don't know how to make change. But they have hope.

        • They should have the new cash registers available soon. The "cashier" punches the buttons with pictures of what the person ordered, shows the bill handed to them to the camera on the register, and the register shows a picture of the change required on a screen. Then, it weighs the drawer to make sure the proper amount has been removed.

          And, of course, they're programmed to do all the math in a Common Core fashion, so it takes ten minutes for the computer to do all the calculations, and it shows it's work on the screen.

        • Should have gone yesterday, They had a two country computer failure (America/Canada) and could not operate their cash registers and ended up giving coffee away for free, but they would not sell you any food...Karma strikes again...

• I'm sure the poor people of Ferguson have plenty of cash available for over-priced coffee. I wonder -why hasn't Starbucks opened stores in poor neighborhoods before?

  • I've never seen a black person in a Starbucks. Ever. Their coffee is so bad that only idiot yuppie hipsters (who apparently think it's cool to drink horrible burnt coffee) will touch it. I drink my coffee black and bitter--like my heart LOL--and even I have to put cream and sweetener in the liquid asphalt Starbucks serves. My husband makes MUCH better coffee, and God love him, he drops off a big steaming cup of it on my bedside table before he leaves for work. I love that man!!

    • I love coffee and I like the Pike Place medium roast at Starbuck's. Schwartz is a tool but the coffee is solid.

    • Erm... I've been in twice in my life, but my Mom LOVES Starbucks. I've seen beaucoup Black people (and other skin colors) that love Starbucks. Perhaps it depends on where you live.

      Between the Starbucks and PBR I think the point is to make a show of liking things that are obviously bad. Perhaps this is why they all vote for Obama.

  • No matter what they will have to lower the prices and in order to lower their prices they will have to lower the quality of products and hire people within the community only. This has DISASTER written all over it, but it is Starbucks so I don't give a crap, I will just sit back and watch it happen and then laugh and then laugh some more, stop to wipe the tears and then laugh some more.
