State lotteries have been rigged for about a decade

State lotteries have been rigged for about a decade. Various states were using random numbers generated by a company in Iowa and the guy in charge of security at that company was apparently getting advance notice of winning lotto numbers. Leave it to the government to screw up something as simple as a lotto.

  • The only way to become rich without any risk is to be a democrat politician....The lotto is for the stupid...Look at all the millionaire's in congress...I would be willing to bet a weeks pay NONE of them ever played the lotto...

  • Here's a sure way to "win" the lottery every time: Do not purchase lottery tickets, but do choose your numbers, then wait for them [not] to be called when the game airs. Every time you lose, and it will be every time, put the money you'd have given the corrupt government in a jar. It will add up nicely after a while, and you won't have contributed a damn thing to a rigged system. It works. I play, I just don't pay, and I win all the time.

    • Have you saved enough to pay for the doctor bills when your numbers match up with a multi million dollar pay off, and you beat your head against the wall? I don't play either. I just don't pay a moment's attention to it.

    • Well, I can testify that I won $62,500 in the Florida Lottery. Playing the same numbers for 11 years. It cost me less than $3000.

  • If your retirement plans include buying a winning lottery ticket, you might be a dumbass redneck. I might waste $20 bucks per year on the lottery, less than I spend on beer every week.

Where there is a will there is a way and anytime large amounts of money are involved someone will try to figure out a way to get their hands on some of it. This kind of thievery is nothing new. The guy got caught and may end up in prison so the lottery people should move on and hire a 'puter geek that can figure out how to keep it from happening again.

  • Sorry, but I have to bow out of the "government screws things up" bandwagon here.

As if private corporations don't screw things up? As if private corporations aren't corrupt? They've been plagued with embezzlers for eternity, and the bigger the corporation the bigger the embezzling.

And we're talking about gambling! Ever heard of corrupt/evil/dangerous people running book-making operations and numbers rackets? Gee, let me think...

  • It all went from "It's for education", to "it's helping the deficit", to some state employee getting rich. You can't trust the government to do anything without some form of corruption.

    • Just another reason why computers should not be used for every goddamn thing in our lives.

      "Random number generator"?

What the hell is wrong with the old system we had where ping-pong balls with numbers on them bounced around in a bin and someone pulled them out?
