• Thing is, no one will get angry, because no one will listen to it. Just like all the other left-wing smut (Air America) that failed to take-off.

  • I've never read any of his books, I've never seen any of his movies, and I'll never hear any of his radio broadcasts. I guess that makes me consistent.

• May he have all the success that Al Franken had with Air America.

• I read 'Different Seasons' probably 30 years ago. This one is probably my favorite novella collection ever.

  Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption was made the movie Shawshank Redemption.

  Apt Pupil was made into a movie but I don't think it translated as well as others.

  The Body was made into the movie Stand By Me.

  The Breathing Method is really quite a story.

  Another favorite movie of mine, "Needful Things", is among many I have not read as yet. It really is too bad that he's such a far left winger. Fortunately radio doesn't support far left wingers too well.

• Yeah, he wrote Firestarter, Carrie, Salem's Lot, Tommyknockers, The Stand and about a zillion more. He also did a collection of shortstories published under a pseudonymn, to see if they would still sell. They did. My favorite in that collection was THinner.

• I really enjoyed reading "Pet Sematary" and "Misery" when I was younger, particularly "Pet Sematary". "Misery" seemed to be one of the rare King books that the movie did justice. I don't want to hear his leftist politics though.

• Off topic, but something just happened and all the gravatars went back to the old size, which is better than they were since starting our Beta testing of the new improved IHTM. Maybe its just that I've finally had the right number of beers.

• Who the hell is Stephen King? Seriously. I've never heard of him. I suppose I could Dogpile it but based on the comments I dont think I'll bother.

  • Popular author for the past few decades at least. Bunch of best sellers and a bunch of em have been - big surprise - made into movies. Lots of em. Always pisses me off when it turns out that someone whose work I've admired goes public in a big way with leftist yark.

    • Oh yeah. I recognize the name based on your info. But, never read any of his stuff. Maybe they should put Vince Flynn on Looney Radio. That would be a hoot, and somebody would actually listen to it.

  ... I say he does'nt make it a year. He will get bogged down in the grind of a day to day show. He's a writer, not a talker, & I don't think he will last.

    • Since he owns the station I imagine he can last as long as he wants to.

      • Now would that be any different some dufus who does a daily podcast or does ham/shortwave broadcasts? If King was as smart as thinks he is, he would set this up as a podcast, & that way, he could see exactly how many people were listening. Then again, he might soon realize that people liked him for his books, not his politics.

        • I used to love to listen to sw. The tin foil factor on a lot of those broadcasts was delicious. I especially enjoyed Radio Havana. That was the gold standard of paranoia.

          I loved their newscasts & commentaries, which were almost 1 in the same. Funny stuff. Some decent music played there though.
