Study Mask mandates do nothing to stop the spread of COVID

• Here's a look at numbers in Tennessee where some counties have mask mandates and some don't:

  As you can see, mask mandates DO NOT STOP COVID.

    • Well, if you look closely at both the Florida and Tennessee numbers, the counties without mask mandates seem to do a hair better than the counties with mask mandates. So it makes no significant difference statistically, but if there is any effect at all it is negative.

      Which actually makes sense when you think about it. Walking around with a big, damp, germy diaper on your face simply cannot be a healthy thing to do. Your body is designed to exhale viruses and bacteria so most of them settle to the ground and die, harming nobody (including yourself). Interfere with that process at your peril. The viruses that get aerosolized are even important, because they get inhaled by passersby which keeps everybody's immune system ramped up and working at speed. Interfere with that process at your peril also.

      Look at the world's history. Which cultures get wiped out by bugs and which don't? ISOLATED cultures get wiped out (Native Americans, isolated tribes back in the jungle, etc.), HIGHLY POPULATED cultures like China are constantly bombarded by germs from their fellow humans and tend to be the sources of bugs that hurt the rest of us, because we don't have built-up immunities to them. So isolating everybody in their homes and trying to isolate them from every possible germ when they leave their home is EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO, even if you could do it.

• Why? Because they can(or because the rest of us are willing to let them get away with it).

• Simple answer
  Power Whores!!!! What ever happened to "follow the science"? It must not apply when it is in direct conflict with the whoring governors.

  • Here in Michigan people keep asking Gretched Whitless to show them the data, the science, anything that proves masks and lockdowns can stop a virus. She refuses.

    • Meanwhile, in Florida, we have no statewide mask mandate, all businesses are open, and our infection rate is lower than NY, NJ, MI, etc.

      • You have the benefit of a Republican governor. Place is full of old people, too, so Florida should have been ground zero for COVID deaths, but YOUR governor wasn't stupid enough to force COVID-infected patients into nursing homes.

        Meanwhile, I have a theory that letting people go about their normal lives, exercise in the fresh air, socialize, whatever, they will be healthier all around and even if they catch the COVID bug it won't be that serious.
