How come the American Comunist Lawyers Union isn't screaming about this? They did help the Nazi's March in Illinois years ago....Would be just their kind of case.

Y, I read a similar thing in regards to Sterling considering suing the NBA over his fine. It's not illegal for him to say what he said, but lawyers contend he may have violated NBA rules which forbid owners to say anything which causes the league harm (or some similar language.) So it may be legal for the TLC to forbid him to wear the armband while he's on the clock.
I'm thinking this may be like yelling "Fire!" In a crowded theatre. If he wears it while on duty, it will only be a matter of time til someone pulls him out of the cab and beats him to death. That would cause a huge traffic mess, tie up first responders from addressing other more important calls. It would waste to m e money and resources.
Still a good deal, when it's all said and done.

Well, I agree with you there, and despicable views are the ones really in need of protection. The answer is probably simple: the Mohammedan cabbie has the CAIR bears and other equally noisy organizations on his side as well as a growing Muslim population in NYC. There is no equivalent for Nazis. And, the swastika is offensive to Jews who make up a large voting bloc that no politician wishing to preserve his career in NYC dares to offend. The TLC, as a NYC government agency, responds to those kinds of stimuli.
But, if the ban were challenged in court, that might be a different matter. Recall that in the late 1970s, the Nazis were forbidden from marching thru Skokie, Il, a town with a large Jewish population. The grounds were that there was a high probability of violence and the public safety took precedence over the First Amendment rights of the Nazis. The ACLU sued on behalf on the Nazis and won.
Wait a minute. Wasn't public safety and the possibility of violence the reason given for not allowing school kids to wear American flags on Cinco de Mayo? Where's the ACLU?
Stupid cabbie! Doesn't he know that being a Mohammedan is the only way to hate Jews in America and get away with it?
