Talk about a tough city. Remember when they booed Santa Claus at a Philadelphia Eagles game? Well, Washington, D.C. went one step further: they just shot Santa in the back while he was trying to hand out toys. After they hauled Santa off to the hospital, a man in a Grinch suit took over with the toys.

I have a couple of Gamo air rifles, I recommend them highly.
Gamo is good quality.
In today's liberal enclaves, it's ok to shoot at Santa, but say one word about a gay rights parade.
At least we can take some consolation it was only a pellet gun.
Of course, it depends on the type of pellet gun, and the range. I was shot in the chest with a very high powered pellet rifle at a range of about a foot. The pellet is still there, parked between two ribs, and I got to add a cute little scar to my collection. I still consider myself lucky that bastard didn't have access to a .22, or better.
Yeah, if you watch the video the guy is in obvious pain. They must have improved pellet guns since I was a kid because I can't believe the pellet went through the suit and into his back.
Oh hell yea! They are about as powerful as a .22 rifle now.
So why are they still called pellet guns if they're that powerful?
No gunpowder.
I was thinking "pellet" indicated purely mechanical propulsion, basically a spring-load, as opposed to an air cartridge or pumped - air, like a classic BB gun. Am I incorrect?
Pellets would distort if they were fired solely by spring propulsion, they are propelled by co2 or air pressure.
I remember my first BB gun, it was powered by a spring that hit/pushed the BB out of the barrel, the technology has advanced considerably over the years. Now they have pellet guns that are very powerful and accurate, they are even used in shooting competitions. You can spend up to around $700 for a pellet rifle now. Here are some examples:

I love Sportsman's Guide. Great prices on lots of stuff you might not even find elsewhere. This is the kind of air rifle I was shot with.

But THIS is what I never even knew existed. I'm glad it wasn't one of these.

Here's a hint for everyone. Stay away from violent bi-polar skinheads. Especially if they've gone off their meds.
Yeah, this thing is for real, and I never knew it existed. You find the strangest things on the interwebz.
If I had $1200 to spend on a gun, that would be high on my list.
BTW, if you go to the photos page and scroll down, there are pics of a deer and a wild boar that they shot with this gun.

Hmmmmm, sounds like a good idea. Not that I have $1,200 to spend on a gun right now,...
WOW! $1200.00?
I watched the video at the first link and when it came to the shooting part there was no sound, so what I'm wondering is how much noise these things make. This is basically a weapon, not a toy, and if there is no gunpowder to explode, why wouldn't assassins use these things?
No, I think that's gone off into a completely different category. They have that in 9mm and .45 caliber, and you fire actual bullets, but the case and powder aren't there. Just the projectile. And it's fired with air pressure.
They have an even bigger version, but have only built the prototype, no production yet.

And here's a video of them using the .45 to hunt wild boar at night.

Now you have me totally confused. That second link calls it a "rifle" and talks about "bullets" rather than pellets, yet it mentions an air reservoir. Do we still call that a pellet gun?
Fascinating. I had no idea. $629.00 for a "Dual Tank Sam Yang Recluse 9 mm Air Rifle" implies it's a serious gun. I bet I could have a blast with that thing, although I'm guessing, at that price, it's not a toy meant for my grandkids. Can you actually hunt with these things? Birds I'm assuming, but what about squirrels and raccoons?
A pellet gun shoots pellets, propelled by air pressure. The pressure might come from a spring, a CO2 cartridge, or a pump actuated by a lever. So there is no powder, and it's not a firearm. But yeah, they can hurt you.
Well, you know what they say....no good deed goes unpunished.
You call this a "TOUGH CITY"?
Pshaw, I have lived places Santa would have shot back, and a few where he would have shot first.
But kudos to the Grinch for saving Christmas. He did Dr. Seuss proud.
Nothing like this kind of event to reaffirm my belief that is only good inner city criminal is one that has assumed room temperature on a slide out drawer. Where is the MSM screaming about some thug shooting Santa? Oh they are too busy with fluff pieces about Obutthead and his vacation...
and looking for Nativity Scenes to try and shut down.
Let me be the first to blame the Tea Party for this act of terrorism...no, I imagine Mostly Stupid Nothing But Commies has beaten me to the punch.
Oh yeah, a Tea Party person mad about health care
It should soon morph into Sarah Palin was Santa Hunting without a permit with an assault pellet gun.
Irrefutable proof that even the Grinch is a better person than the average DC citizen.
Satan is a better person than the average DC citizen!
