If you go to Amazon you can read excerpts of the book. It's not satire it's the demented rantings of a semi-literate college professor. The book is far worse than its title indicates, that it was written by a college professor is scary.

Interestingly enough whenever governmental leaders in the name f religion persecuted and killed people those that were persecuted and killed, were in their MAJORITY true Christians who were fighting against the government leaders who were using religion as a weapon against people. Also persecution of Jews because of the masssive anti semitism that existed and then other undesirables by the government using religion as a reason. Religion was used as a reason for slavery as well. Whenever govt gets involved with religion we get atrocities and injuries. However, i am willing to pose to you hisham that I would be shocked if any big numbers of those that did anything like that were truly Christian practicing people.

Separation of Church and State as a statement or the words is not a law, it is not in the Constitution. Separation of Church and State was statement by Jefferson in personal letter to a pastor who was angry at the STATE'S INTERFERING IN RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES. Jefferson was explaining that the purpose of the First Amendment is in essence a way to protect the religious and religion FROM the government. It was never meant to protect government from religion because it is once goverment takes over religion that:

Man made and directed theocracies poses problems, because it is a man that uses religious words to control the people (Iran and other Middle Eastern (Muslim) nations, Great Britain etc). It is just as problematic as an atheistic nation (Soviet Union, China, North Korea, etc.) whose government /leader(s) IS/ARE the people's deity(ies) that usurp the legitimate place of free will and free worship in order to control the people.
The Founders were geniuses in creating a form a government where GOVERNMENT (who would be in the end the true ONE uniting force for EVERYONE within the borders of the country) shall not create or name one religion above others and shall not take over a religion in order to turn the country into GB (which was the fear at the time). However, the founders also wanted to make damn sure that people were free to worship and that religion was part of society to avoid an atheistic government: Where the one true uniting force for all people (the govt) would be in essence the deity which presents its own problems.
Ruben makes a good point that liberals are all about this wall of separation that Jefferson explained the First Amendment creates IN ORDER TO PROTECT the religious and the churches and temples FROM the government for their convenience. However, when the liberals are ready to make statements about the role of government in our lives and how the govt is to then be our deity (and/or the leader(s)) then this wall of separation is not alluded to, because after all if there is a wall then the government cannot and should not take over a religion or religious undertones.
With that said, if she feels this way fine. She has the first amendment that not only protects her speech but also whom she wants to worship. If she is looking to worship the government and Barack Obama as the high priest or messiah then that is her business. I don't need nor want to buy her book nor support her ideas. The ONLY problem I have with this is that, she is/may be promoting this to children, whose parents may feel QUITE differently than her. If G-d is not to be prayed to at school, then the government shouldnt be replaced as the deity either regardless of teh school being a government funded school. After all it is a public (tax payer) funded school so instead of government it would be the tax payer that would get to be the deity and of course I wouldn't advocate that either. But you get my point, in the end if liberals want to worship the govt and its leaders they should really worship the tax payers that makes govt and leaders possible.
Again she can feel this way but don't promote it nor implement it in the schools and let people make up their own mind outside of the schools. Don't use government to usurp the religious beliefs of others and don't use religious imagery to appeal to people so they can view the government under that light. Christians, Jews and Muslims (etc) can and should participate in government, however the govt cannot choose one of those as the religion of the land nor itself as the deity either.
We need to allow the Constitution to remain the law of the land. Obama is not the Messiah no human governmental leader is. Keep things in perspective. Liberals won't though because they are crazy. They hate religion when it pleases because it demands too much from them, but they love it when it gives them the nasty desires of their minds. It is weird.
