AR 15s are illegal in California? I had no idea. Just like CNN and the Sheriff had no idea that AR 15s are semi-automatics. Why were they calling them "assault rifles"?
Or are they using the argument that the AR 15 can be converted to a fully automatic therefore it qualifies as an "assault" weapon? Kinda like my Toyota Corolla can be converted to a tank ...
They aren't illegal in Kali, but they are limited to 5 round magazines, and they must have a mag release that can only be activated by pressing a live round into a hole in the side of the gun. This is supposed to make it harder to reload faster.
A good gunsmith can turn an old .22 semi-auto rabbit rifle into a full auto gun, all it takes is the know-how. Why anyone would do so is beyond me but then again I am not a terrorist so what do I know? Only an insecure little sissy needs a fully automatic weapon, the rest of us know how to make each shot count.

He bought the pistols legally himself, 2 years ago. When he bought them, they were legal, whether they would be legal today or not, remains to be seen.
If the rifles were bought 2 or more years ago, they might have been legal. If they were a private sale, depending on where they were bought, there is not a requirement for a background check.
