Thinking the unthinkable

Thinking the unthinkable. “I live with a son who is mentally ill. I love my son. But he terrifies me. A few weeks ago, Michael pulled a knife and threatened to kill me and then himself after I asked him to return his overdue library books. … In the wake of another horrific national tragedy, it’s easy to talk about guns. But it’s time to talk about mental illness.” The only problem is talking about mental illness does not advance the left’s political agenda.

They don't like to talk about the mentally ill because so many of them are.

  • Here's the question I have: are there more mental problems with today's kids? I'm worried to death about this. I'm not asking because I know the answer. It seems to me there's an epidemic of ADHD and autism and all kinds of lesser undiagnosable behavior issues with young children. I'm in my late fifties. When I think back to elementary school, I don't remember disorderly children - they wouldn't have been tolerated for two seconds. Now, when I visit my grandchildrens' schools, it's like visiting Berserk-ville. Pandemonium reigns. When I was in school, if a teacher said shut up and stand still, we became statues. Now, if a teacher says shut and stand still it's like she didn't even speak. I don't get it.

sifi: amen, now what about unclean spirits?

      • Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 1 Timothy 4:1-3

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
        Ephesians 6:12

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Same here. Discipline, and I mean corporal punishment, (Spanking) would nip a lot of this at the bud.

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. Proverbs 22:15

Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. Proverbs 13:24

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol. Proverbs 23:13-14

I could go on and on.

    • I do talks in elementary schools. My shtick takes about 2 and a half to 3 hours in a public school, 'cause the kids can't shut up or pay attention; they constantly derail the talk. It takes about 1 hour in a Catholic school, where the kids sit with their hands folded on their desks, look straight at me, and (get this!) they ask intelligent questions at the end.

  • Actually, "talking about mental illness" is not enough. What we have to do is talk about it like it's a BAD thing... but that's going to hurt someone's feelings.

  • You know that mental illness is running rampant in this country when nearly everyone fails to see what Corporate Greed has done.

  • Enlightening people about the different types of mental illness is certainly necessary. However, in the short term we need more security. Not just some old retired traffic cops with no guns. We need trained professionals, with firearms, who know how to thwart an attack and keep casualties to a minimum.

which is strange considering pp eugenics

  • My dad's friend is about 92. He is still taking care of his youngest son, who's about 2-3 years younger than I am. He's not violent, but the kid did too many drugs when he was young and fried his brain. He's incapable of taking care of himself. Lord knows what will happen when his father passes away. His mother died awhile back.
