• The problem is that in most public education systems, no one even has a clue what math is for. They're education majors. I can say with absolute certainty that at least in grades 10-12, I understood math better than my math teachers.

• Can you feature people paying bills, shopping, etc with this nonsense? I did this when I was learning different bases, but really, for your average person, this is completely worthless. If you are going to.be a programmer, base 2 is handy, but. . . Then they wonder why our kids can't do.math, which also affects their ability to do science!

• What will be interesting is when someone has to use logarithms and trig functions, after their battery goes dead.

  • Once you get beyond the simplest math equations, Common Whore math is completely useless. It will totally f*ck up all equations.
    Can you imagine where we would be if Common Whore was taught from the beginning of time? I doubt we would have ever gotten out of caves.

    • Actually, the example shown is the same principal. But normal people use numerals instead of little blocks and x's. A couple mellin i a ago, we figured out numerals were essier and more accurate than carrying around rocks or whatever. Common core is taking us backward, not forward.

    • An abacus is much simpler.

• Keep em stupid and they'll be on the government dole forever....Democrat math....Goes right along with revisionist history, global warming classes, and the ever popular transgender classes....No wonder schools are soooooo screwed up. When dey gradeate, dey can'not be anting butt welfair resipiants and receevers of da free shit.

  • Exactly, check what the communist do. Look at who was educated in Europe during the reins of the "royals" If you keep the masses illiterate, uninformed and disarmed. You will enslave them forever. That is the reason for Uncommon Core, Net Neutrally, and the attack upon the 2nd Amendment. WTF folks before you are following all the way to the "retreats"

• My kids brought home one of these stupid things. I wrote a note saying that this is a horrible way to teach math for specific problem. My son told me the next day when you got home that many parents had said the same thing of this example, and the teacher actually agreed with everyone.

  • A lot of teachers disagree with Common Core math, but the teacher unions and their pet politicians love it because it gives them more power over parents and other nuisances.

• Progressives find Common Core math handy at budget time, when they use it to prove that 2 + 2 = 5.

  • It's the only way they've found to calculate the density of Unicorn Farts.

  • Wrong, 1+1=POTATO.
    POTATO+BLUE=5

    • And my bank fines the hell out of me when I use it to 'balance' my checking account. Go figure. ;)
