Honolulu has issued like 3 CCW permits in the last 30 years. You have to prove to the Law enforcement that you need it. Self protection isn't a good enough reason. Another reason we want to move
Here's a likely scenario playing out within a year or less--A doctor "signs off" on the gun purchase. Someone then decides to kill or maim someone with the "doctor approved" gun. A no-good lawyer will sue the doctor for "signing off" on the purchase.
This whole thing is a big pile of "Obama"
